Greenways Corridor Committee
December 2014'eve mer 15, 2018
Ellen Stone Room, Cary Hall
Lexington, Massachusetts
Members Present: Mal Crawford, Alex Dohan, Peggy Enders, Eileen Entin, Bob Hausslein,
Susan Kenyon, Keith Ohmart, Mike Tabaczynski
Other Attendees: none
Votes: Minutes of November 15, 2018, meeting: Approved
Reports/Updates:
• Route K - Keith and Mal completed a survey of Parcel A on Peacock Farm Rd and discov-
ered that the driveway of#41 goes through the Parcel and #43 has excavated on the upper
part of the Parcel for landscaping. They took measurements from the DOT fence. This has
been reviewed with Karen Mullins and Carol Kowalski. The existing trail goes across #41,
and could be re-routed, but this is probably not necessary, as it is such a small corner and
can easily be done later if necessary. Keith has drafted a letter to the property owners, notify-
ing them that trail signs will be going up and a post installed. We have provisional permission
from Conservation and the Town.
• Bridge School trail NOI - This will probably be applied for as a limited-scope project, which
allows bridges on existing trails. It will be a benefit because the trail will be moved out of the
wetland. GCC will ask Carol Kowalski for funds for filing costs.
• National Development project (Belmont Country Club property) - The Town has negotiated
for $35,000 to be used for a public access trail. No boardwalk will be needed - it will all be
benching to build the trail. It will need mowing regularly, and that should be the responsibility
of the Waterstone facility. GCC needs to take no action immediately, will add to project list.
• Battle Road Scenic Byway - Peggy will be a liaison. Toole Design has been hired to work on
a re-design of Route 2A for 2022 to improve traffic safety. The National Park Service will also
be involved.
• Fairland St project - Mike, Susan, Mal, & Keith met with builder Mark Barons for a site walk
regarding a trail that Barons hopes to build out to Lincoln St. There will need to be a cross-
walk at Middleby Rd, and they asked Barons to reach out to Town Engineering about that.
There was also discussion about trail construction, and not using steps. A letter of support to
go to the Planning Board has been drafted. Some neighbors are against the development
and concerned about runoff.
• 0 Grove St trail - Keith and Mike met (along with Karen Mullins, Jordan McCarron, and Phil
Hamilton) with Ron Lopez, developer, and Jack Sullivan, engineer, about the trail to be built
from the new development into Wright Farm and the Landlocked Forest. There has been a
decision made to scrap the new sidewalk along Grove St because it would destroy too many
trees, and put in a crosswalk to make use of the existing sidewalk on the other side of Grove
St. This leaves the developer with plenty of funds to work on the trail. The proposed trail will
require a 24 foot bridge in the Landlocked Forest, and Karen has contacted the conservation
agent in Burlington as both Conservation Commissions will be reviewing the Notice of Intent
