Town Celebrations Committee <br /> Minutes of Meeting <br /> April 4, 2018 <br /> Room 242, Lexington Community Center <br /> Members Present <br /> Lorain Marquis, Chair; Kim Coburn, Linda Dixon, Karen Gaughan, Paul Jenkins, Sondra Lucente, <br /> Julie Miller, Wayne Miller, Sandy Podgorski, Bob Tracey, Bill Mix, Carol Flynn, Mary Hutton, Cerise <br /> Jalelian, Wei Ding. <br /> Members Not Present <br /> June Baer, Henry Murphy, Gina Rada, Dave Taylor, Sam Zales, Geetha Padaki, Sue Stering, Glen <br /> Bassett, Suzanne Caton. <br /> Business <br /> • The Chair reported that a quorum was present. <br /> • The minutes of the meeting of March 28, 2018, were approved. <br /> • The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 in Rm. at the Community <br /> Center. <br /> Approval of Parade Applications <br /> • CALEX , a civic organization, was accepted to participate in the parade on a no-fee basis. The <br /> group had requested a fee. Lorain will explain to the group that it I not our practice to pay civic <br /> groups. <br /> • Lexington Youth Hockey will not participate this year. However, its sponsoring organization, <br /> Corporate Limousine has agreed to be a sponsor for the parade this year. <br /> Patriots Day, Monday, April 16, 2018 <br /> • Parking: Lorain and Karen met with the Police Department and Public Works representatives <br /> about the issue of parking the day of the parade. Police Sgt. George Snell was against our idea <br /> of closing off Worthern Road to non-parade participant parking. His point was that people are <br /> used to going there to park and that there was sufficient parking available to parade <br /> participants. We can use all high school lots this year. Also, Metropolitan Life will not be <br /> under construction so we can use that lot too. One Militia Drive will be available for Westfield <br /> Band and also committee members. There was discussion about how to reserve parking for <br /> Westfield Band vehicles both before the band arrives at about 11 and while they are taking <br /> members to the beginning of the parade. Nothing was firmly decided. Sondra will talk to Doug <br /> Lucente about how to solve the problem. <br /> • Sandy will ride with the Westfield Band on its lead bus to direct them to the beginning of the <br /> parade. <br /> • Kim presented a small rendition of a large banner that she and the people at Wales Copy <br /> designed to thank all the sponsors of this year's parade. It will be displayed on the reviewing <br /> stand across from the library. Hopefully, the cost will be under $200. Kim suggested and it <br />
