Mahoney Garden Center, pending receipt of an application
Lexington Hockey pending receipt of an application
Patriots Day, Monday, April 16, 2018
• Lorain reported that a group plans to gather in Lexington to march to Hanscom in protest of
expanding our nuclear capabilities. We believe they plan to park in town. Many will march on
foot, but the group has also mentioned having bus transportation for those who chose not to
march. The proposed meeting time is noon on Patriot's Day, the same time the Westfield Band
will be performing their concert, and the planned gathering place is the First Parish Church on
the Green. Concern was expressed both for the increased pressure on parking availability for
those attending the concert and the parade and also the possibility that the group's presence
may provoke conflict with those with opposing views. Lorain said she would contact both the
Police and the DPW to discuss this and overall parking issues, and the particular challenge this
group's presence may cause.
• Geetha showed us her video of Patriot's Day—it will go on Lexmedia's website- maybe we can
create a link to that on our website. The video will also be shown before town meeting. Sue
will put it on Lexington Vintage Years. Kim asked if we can add it to videos shown at the
Visitor's Center and maybe also at the CC.
• It was decided that only two lists of Media awards were needed.
• Cerise and the police need a list of all vehicles.
• Cerise will take care of the list of all VIP's expected at the Re-enactment and at the parade and
the reviewing stand.
• Finally, a list of all the floats is needed for judging.
• The sponsorship program is winding up. Sue enlisted the support of two new sponors. Only a
few former sponsors have not responded to follow up calls.
• Paul will take care of vehicles for the Chief Marshall (Peter Kelly's red convertible), for the
Tricorn Hat Award recipient (Beverly Kelly's white convertible) and the White Cane Award
recipient (John Carroll to provide vehicle). Deb Hankins will take care of the vehicle for the
Youth Recognition.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary Hutton, Co-Secretary
Future Meetings: 04/04/18, 04/11/18, 04/25/18, 05/02/18, 05/16/18, 05/23/18, 06/06/18.
