Town Celebrations Committee Minutes of Meeting May 16, 2018 Lexington Community Center, Room 242 Members Present Lorain Marquis, Chair; Suzanne Caton, Kim Coburn, Bill Mix, Carol Flynn, Karen Gaughan, Mary Hutton, Sandy Podgorski, Glen Bassett, Wayne Miller. Business • No business could be conducted as a quorum was not present. Instead, the members who were present read through the script and roster for the Memorial Day ceremonies and parade to make sure there were no loose ends. Items needing a follow-up: o Sam Doran is to be in charge of Civil War program. Bill will talk to him about reading Gettysburg Address. o Steve Connors, the new captain of the Lexington Minutemen, will read Logan's orders. o The Volley by the Minutemen will precede Taps and Echo throughout the program. o Kim will give Justin a precise schedule of times the High School Band will perform. o Kim will confirm the performance of a soloist. o Check with Cerise about participation by the scouts in the wreath-laying ceremony. o Glen and Gresh to work out how they want to divide up joint role as narrator. o Police to be notified that parking should be prevented from the Visitor's Center to Hancock Street during the wreath laying ceremony as the High School Band will assemble there. o TCC members need to be aware of where to move the audience at key points in the ceremony, such as when the ceremony moves to the Old Burial Ground. o Suzanne, Carol and Karen will be in charge of organizing the parade units at 9:30 before the parade. o Everyone will assemble for the wreath laying at 8:15 behind the police station. Need to confirm two trumpet players and scouts. o Confirm Peter Ricci will read firefighter prayer. o Later, at the ceremony on the Green, Glen/Gresh will mention the flags at the WWI trees at the time the wreath-laying ceremony is mentioned. • Wayne agreed to order one more wreath so we can lay 2 wreaths at the Korean War/ Vietnam War memorial. • Photographer Diana Sperandio came to the meeting to meet members. • The next meeting will be held on May 23, 2018 Respectfully submitted, Mary Hutton, Co-Secretary
