Minutes of November 5, 1998 <br />PETITIONS HEARD: <br />Town of Lexington <br />Historic Districts Commission <br />Commissioners in attendance. Ian Adamson, Mark DiNapoli, Joann Gschwendtner and Lynn <br />Hopkins; Associate Commissioners: Walter Bergler, Elaine Doran and Eleanor MacQueen <br />Mark DiNapoli was elected acting chair. The minutes of October 1, 1998 were approved. <br />Visitor's Center, Buckman Tavern — (J. Gschwendtner stepped out for this hearing) George <br />Comtois presented plans 011 behalf of the Lexington Historical Society. They will be replacing <br />and moving three signs in the area of Buckman Tavern. The proposal was approved. Certificate <br />98C -86. <br />Meriam Street Parking Lot — George Woodbury sought approval for a sign with parking rates to <br />be displayed on the parking attendant's booth. A permanent sign was approved, as was a <br />temporary sign for three months. Jack Quinlan sought approval of the newly painted eagle at the <br />fire station. It had been changed from one color matching the trim to a multi - color. It was <br />approved. George Woodbury presented some ideas for a replacement police booth at the <br />intersection of Waltham Street and Massachusetts Avenue. Certificate 98C -87. <br />1787 Massachusetts Avenue — Mark Tedescho of Gammett Signs showed plans for a sign for <br />Aquarius Travel. They were approved. Certificate 98C -88. <br />1894 Massachusetts Avenue — Marc Rinaldi will be re- siding and painting his house. The <br />proposal was approved. Certificate 98C -89. <br />10 Bloomfield Street — Matthew Sadler received approval of a small retaining wall and a new <br />storm door in the front. Certificate 98C -90. <br />CONTINUED HEARINGS: <br />1 Wallis Court — No one showed up to present this petition. The Commission voted to continue <br />the hearing if the applicant sent a letter within two weeks requesting a continuance. <br />10 Woburn Street — This hearing was continued at the request of John D'Orsi, the applicant. <br />1776 Massachusetts Avenue — Allen Chiocca presented plans for signage at the new location of <br />US Trust. Signage was approved for the front and rear of the building. The hearing was <br />continued to allow modification of the spacing of the letters on the front US Trust sign. The vote <br />on the front sign was four in favor (Adamson, Bergler, DiNapoli and Hopkins) and one opposed <br />(Gschwendtner). The vote of the rear sign was 5 in favor.
