Davies,
Chairman, Linda J. McAulay, Stephen M. Politi, and John E. Ryan;
Associate Commissioner Walter H. Bergler; and Charles D. Grant,
Clerk.
At 8:04 PM the Chairman declared the meeting to be open and
read an application from Phyllis Shelley and Raymonde Roy d /b /a
Lexurious Nails with respect to the erection and display of a
sign on the building at 1656 Massachusetts Avenue, which is
• within the Battle Green District. The applicants presented a
sketch of the sign, reading " LEXURIOUS NAILS" in black on a gold
panel within a black background and having a gold border, and a
photograph of where the sign is to be hung on the building. In
the discussion the applicants explained that their intention was
that, in directing their artist, the words should have been in
gold on the black background without the gold panel; in
considering its position, Commissioner McAulay said she does not
like one sign hanging under another. It was VOTED (Commissioners
Davies, Politi, Ryan and Associate Commissioner Bergler voting
Aye and Commissioner McAulay voting Nay) that the sign be
approved as presented, except that it shall read "LEXURIOUS
NAILS" in gold leaf letters with a gold leaf border on a matte
black painted wood background, and it shall match in size,
material and color the other two signs on the building.
•
In a continued hearing. Jeff Peng, representing Jeff and
Judy Peng d /b /a Lexington Computer Center, in their application
with respect to the erection and display of a sign on the
building at 1644 Massachusetts Avenue, which is within the Battle
Green District, presented a sketch of the sign, reading
"LEXINGTON COMPUTER" in white or gold on a maroon background with
a border to match the lettering and of the same size as the sign
for "Pack 'n Post" on the same side of the building. In the
discussion, Stan Mager of Pack 'n Post did not want the sign of
Lexington Computer Center to be the same color as his Pack n'
Post sign because a person looking up at the building might not
