HISTORIC DISTRICTS COMMISSION <br /> A meeting of the Historic Districts Commission was held <br /> on November 7. 1979 in the Selectmen's Meeting Room, Town <br /> Office Building, Lexington. Present were John R. Packard, <br /> Chairman; Georgia Williams, Secretary; and the three remaining <br /> Commissioners, Lawrence Whipple, Roland Greeley, and John L. <br /> Davie s also pr~:aeA.t were Associate Commissioners Linda J. <br /> McAuley and Howard C. Nason. <br /> At 8s05 P. M. Bruce Ribas presented his scale drawings <br /> of signs for his new store, Melinda's, at 1719-21 Massachusetts <br /> Avenue. a matter discussed informally on October 17. After <br /> extended discussion, and modif ication of the plans submitted, <br /> all to be shown in a certificate of appropriateness, the <br /> Commission VOTED to approve a sign for the front of the store. <br /> The Commission also VOTED to approve the use of the existing <br /> awnings installed by the previous tenant, CVS, with new panels <br /> to eliminate the CVS name and on one panel, to replace it with <br /> "Melinda's". No scale drawings were presented for a sign on <br /> the rear of the premises, but the applicant was invited to <br /> submit them at the Commission's next hearing on November 28. <br /> At 8:45 the Commission heard the request of Decelle, Inc. <br /> for approval of exterior changes and signs on the premises at <br /> 1690-1'708 Massachusetts Avenue. The plans, many of which had <br /> been discussed informall at an earlier date were resented <br /> Y , <br /> P <br /> by Mr. Gary Frawley and Mr. Charles Lavoie, and were on the <br /> whole found acceptable. The Commission did, however. suggest <br /> a change for the left front "Decelle's" sign, so that it would <br /> <br />
