<br /> . . <br /> HISTORIC DISTRICTS COMMISSION <br /> A meeting of the Historic Districts Commission xas held on Wednesday, <br /> November 30, 199, in the Selectmen's Meeting Room, Town Office Building, <br /> Lexington. Present xere Commissioners John R. Packard, Chairman; Georgia <br /> H. Williams, Secretary; Roland B. Greeley; S. Lawrence Whipple; and Asso- <br /> ciate Commissioners Oliver F. Hooper and Linda J. McAuley. Mr. Hooper xas <br /> appointed to serve for Commissioner Amalia G. Saaaoylenko who xas unable to <br /> be present. <br /> A hearing was held at 8s05 P.M. on the application of Roderic Boxen <br /> and Barbara Hoffman with respect to exterior architectural changes in the <br /> dwelling at 910-912 Massachusetts Avenue, which is within the Past Village <br /> District. Mr. Packard read the legal notice and made reference to the <br /> application. Present were Roderic Bowen for the applicant; Pileen Cotter <br /> of 898 Massachusetts Avenue; Mabel and Karen Bellinger of 922 Massachusetts <br /> Avenue= and William Mason of 904 Massachusetts Avenue. Mr. Boxen submitted <br /> snapshots of the dwelling. He stated that the gutters xere of wood and had <br /> rotted and that they wished to replace with baked white enamel aluminum <br /> gutters and that they also wished to install white baked enamel aluminum <br /> combination xindows; triple track xindows made by Alcoa Co. He stated that <br /> in the spring they want to put new aluminum gutters on the porch and that <br /> they will need to replace much of the porch railing with the same style <br /> railing existing. He said that they wish to replace rusty galvanised metal <br /> downspouts with white baked enamel aluminum rectangular downspouts. He <br /> said that the two dormers on the front roof are now shingled and that in <br /> the spring they wish to replace with clapboards to match the rest of the <br /> house and that they would be painted to match the house. He said that he <br /> has installed a light fixture to one of the doors that did not have a fix- <br /> ture; the new fixture is black with a glass globe. The hearing xas closed <br /> at 8:25 P.M. <br /> A hearing was held at 8:25 P.M. on the application of Andrew S. and <br /> Katherine T. Griffiths for a Certificate with respect to the addition of a <br /> deck and other exterior architectural changes on the rear of the dwelling <br /> at 10 Hancock Avenue, which is within the Hancock-Clarke District. Mr. <br /> Packard read the legal notice and made reference to the application. Mrs. <br /> Griffiths submitted drawings showing the porch to be walled in, the deck to <br /> be added, and the privacy screen at the end of the deck. She stated that <br /> they share the driveway with the Trainors and xish to screen off the area <br /> behind the deck for privacy with a 9' high 8' section louvred, vertical <br /> angle slat fence. She said that the deck will have to be stained and that <br /> the porch to be walled in will be shingled to match the house. She said <br /> that there x111 be a sliding glass door at the end of the porch and that <br /> an existing window will be moved out to the new side exterior wall. The <br /> deck will be 18' x 8' and will be an open deck. It xas stated that the <br /> steps on the drawing showed uneven width of the treads. Mr. Greeley com- <br /> mented that the Commission needs a section through of the privacy screen, <br /> and more details of the steps, materials, and dimensions. The hearing was <br /> adjourned at 8:55 P.M. <br /> <br />
