<br /> I'~ <br /> HISTORIC DISTRICTS COMMISSION <br /> A meeting of the Historic Districts Commission was held on Wednesday, <br /> September 2I, 1977, in the Selectmen's Meeting Room, Town Office Building, <br /> Lexington. Present were Commissioners John R, Packard, Chairman; Georgia <br /> H. Williams, Secretary; Roland B. Greeley; and Associate Commissioners <br /> John L. Davies and Sarah P. Harkness. Mr. Davies was appointed to sit for <br /> Commissioner S. Lawrence Whipple who was unable to be present. Mrs. Harkness <br /> was appointed to sit for Commissioner Amelia G. Samoylenko who was unable to <br /> be present. <br /> An adjourned hearing on the application of Minute Man Park Realty <br /> Trust, Ernest A. Giroux, Trustee, for a Certificate with respect to changes <br /> in the exterior architectural features of the building at 1833-1853 Massa- <br /> chusetts Avenue, 1»7 Meriam Street, Depot Place and Depot Square, which is <br /> within ;the Battle Green District, was held at 8:05 P.M. John A. Docherty, <br /> TII, submitted. a:drawi,ng showing proposed changes for the store at 27 Depot <br /> Square. The dark beige color.armings are to be straight across at the top, <br /> - ~ going into an u~brella style 3' off the door and two windows either side of <br /> the door. He proposes to inst2~11 planters outside the four windows having <br /> awnings. Mr. Docherty said that he had eliminated the carriage lamps and <br /> bronze door plaques proposed at the :hearing oi~ September 7, 1977. He said <br /> that he would like to paint the door, metal window frames. and planters the <br /> same beige color as the awnings. The hearing was closed at 8:40 P.M. <br /> Upon motion made by Mr. Greeley and seconded by Mr. Davies, it was un- <br /> animously VOTED to issue a Certificate of Appropriateness to Minute Man Park <br /> Realty Trust, Ernest A. Giroux, Trustee, with respect to changes in the ex- <br /> terior architectural features of the building at 1833~ie53 Massachusetts <br /> Avenue Meriam Street, Depot Place, and Depot Square (store at 27 Depot <br /> Square , which is within the Battle Green District. Participating in this <br /> decision were Commissioners John Packard, Georgia H. Williams, Roland B. <br /> Greeley, and Associate Commissioners John L. Davies and Sarah P. Harkness. <br /> It was moved, seconded, and YOTED to pay the following bills: Minute <br /> Man Publications, Inc. - $45.50 for four bills= and Barbara Gilson, Clerk - <br /> $93.75 for clerical se~c'vices in August. <br /> Amelia G. Samoylenko arrived at 8:45 P.M. She asked if anyone had <br /> heard details of the "gazebo" that someone wishes to donate to the Town for <br /> concerts and stated that she understood the location had been narrowed down <br /> to the area between Buckman Tavern and the Visitors Center. Mrs. Samoylenko <br /> said that she understood two designs were being considered. <br /> A hearing was held at 8:50 P.M. on the application of the Lexington <br /> Mews Trust, Amelia G. Samoylenko, Trustee, for a Certificate with respect <br /> to the erection and display of two directory signs on the rear of the build- <br /> ing at 10 Muzzey Street, which is within the Battle Green District. Mr. <br /> Packard read the legal notice and made reference to the application. Mrs. <br /> Samoylenko submitted three copies of a drawing showing the proposed direc- <br /> tory signs. She stated that they would be like the one in front of the <br /> building but without posts and that they would be mounted on the building, <br /> <br />
