HISTORIC DISTRICTS COMMISSIOAi <br /> A meeting of the Historic Districts Commission was held on Wednesday, <br /> May ii, 1977, in Room GIS, Town Office Building, Lexington. Present were <br /> Commissioners John R. Packard, Chairman; Georgia H. Williams, Secretary; <br /> S. Lawrence Whipple; and Associate Commissioners Ruth B. Adams and Sarah <br /> P. Harkness. Mrs. Adams was appointed to sit for Commissioner Roland B. <br /> Greeley who was unable to be present. Mrs. Harkness was appointed to sit <br /> for Commissioner Amelia G. Samoylenko who waa unable to be present. <br /> Anne Grady and Elisabeth Reinhardt met xith the Commission. It xas <br /> stated that the Historical Commission can get preservation restrictions <br /> for certain historic buildings. It xa.s suggested that the Battle Green <br /> District be extended to include the Hancock School. Both Mrs. Williams <br /> and Mrs. Adams said that they feel it is a good idea. Mrs. Grady asked if <br /> the Commission can do anything about the extension of the redline to Lex- <br /> ington and Mr. Packard stated that he felt the Commission could with re- <br /> spect to architectural appropriateness. Mrs. Reinhardt asked if the Com- <br /> mission could do anything about the traffic program proposed for Pleasant <br /> Street and Massachusetts Avenue intersection and Mr. Packard said that the <br /> Commission had discussed this with Town officials and had written the De- <br /> partment of Public Works. <br /> It xas moved, seconded, and unanimously VOTED to issue a Certificate <br /> of Appropriateness to Dominic R. Nocera with respect to the erection and <br /> display of a sign on the building at 10 Muszey Street, which is within the <br /> Battle Green District. Participating in this decision were Commissioners <br /> John R. Packard, Georgia H. Williams, S. Lawrence Whipple, and Associate <br /> Commissioners Ruth B. Adams and Sarah P. Harkness. <br /> It was moved, seconded, and unanimously VOTLD to issue a Certificate <br /> of Appropriateness to Thomas A. and Karen 5. Louis with respect to the <br /> erection of a fence on the premises at 31 Hancock Street, xhich is within <br /> the Hancock-Clarke District. Participating in this decision were Commis- <br /> sioners John R. Packard, Georgia H. Williams, S. Lawrence Whipple, and <br /> Associate Commissioners Ruth B. Adams and Sarah P. Harkness. <br /> It was moved, seconded, and unanimously VOTED to issue a Certificate <br /> of Appropriateness to Edward V. Jigarjian d/b/a Helting Pot International <br /> with respect to changes in the exterior architectural features of, and an <br /> addition to, the building at 20 Waltham Street, and for the erection and <br /> display of a sign on said building, all within the Battle Green District. <br /> Participating in this decision xere Commissioners John R. Packard, Georgia <br /> H. Williams, S. Laxrsnce Whipple, and Associate Commissioners Ruth B. <br /> Adams and Sarah P. Harkness. <br /> It was moved, seconded, and VOTED to pay the following billss Minute- <br /> <br /> Man Publications, Inc., $Y0.50; S. J. Ingalls Stationer, Inc., $34.82; and <br /> <br /> Barbara Gilson for Hearings and Clerical Services in April, $120.00. <br /> The meeting was adjourned at 10s00 P,M. , <br /> Geo~a H.
