HISTORIC DIS~£RI,CTS COMMISSION <br /> A meeting oP the Historic Districts Commission was held on Monday, <br /> March 28, 1977, at 8:00 P.M. in Room G-5, Town Office Building., Lexing- <br /> ton. Present were Commissioners. Wilbur M. Jaquith, Chairman, and S. <br /> Lawrence Whipple; Acting Commissioner John R. Packard; and Associate <br /> Commissioners Ruth B. Adams and Oliver F. Hooper. Mrs. Adams was ap- <br /> pointed to serve for Commissioner Georgia H. Williams who was unable to <br /> be present. Mr. Hooper was appointed to serve for Commissioner Amalia <br /> G. Samoylenko who was unable'to be present. It was moved, seconded, and <br /> <br /> voted tha~',~Irs. Adams serve as Secretary Yro Tem. <br /> The Chairman presented a''c~raft of a Certificate of Appropriateness <br /> for Hair-em, Inc, together, with a revised drawing of the sign which fol- <br /> lowed the suggestions made. by tl~,e Commission to the applicant at the <br /> hearing on March 23, 1977, after discussion, upon motion made by Mr. <br /> Hooper at~d seconded by Mr. Packard, it was voted that the Certificate <br /> of Appropriateness be issues to Hair'em, Inc. xith respect to the erec- <br /> tion and display of a sign for the store at 846 Massachusetts Avenue, <br /> which is within the East Village District. Participating in this deci- <br /> sion were Commissioner:_ Wilbur M. Jaquith, Acting Commissioner John R. <br /> Packard, and Associate Commissioners Ruth B. Adams and Oliver F. Hooper <br /> voting in the affirmative and Commissioner S. Lawrence Whipple voting i <br /> in the negative. <br /> A discussion was held with respect to the signs on the Trani Build- <br /> ing at 1775 Massachusetts Avenue for L. H. York Associates and Lexington <br /> Travel Bureau, Inc.
