• <br /> HISTORIC DISTRICTS COMMISSION <br /> May 5, 1976 <br /> A meeting of the Historic Districts Commission was held on Wednesday, <br /> <br /> May 5, 1976, at 7:45 P.A1., in the Selectmen's Meeting Room. Present were <br /> Commissioners Jaquith, Chairman; Georgia H. Williams, Secretary; Thomas J. <br /> Holzbog; and Associate Commissioners Oliver F. Hooper who was appointed to <br /> serve for Commissioner S. Lawrence Whipple, and Ruth B. Adams who was <br /> appointed to fill the vacancy. Also present~ras--Amalia G. Samoylenko, Associate. <br /> A hearing was held at 7:50 P.M. on the application of the Lexington <br /> Historical Society for a Certificate of Appropriateness with respect to <br /> the erection and display of a sign on the premises of the Hancock-Clarke <br /> House at 36 Hancock Street, which is within the Hancock-Clarke District. <br /> Roland B. Greeley, President of the Society, presented copies of the sign <br /> and a photograph showing the sign which had been moved from across the <br /> street. Donald E. Nickerson, Chairman of the Board of Appeals, had told <br /> Mr. Greeley that he did not think the Society needed to appear before the <br /> Board of Appeals again. The hearing was closed at 8:00 P.A1. <br /> Airs. Adams left the meeting and Alrs. Samoylenko was appointed to <br /> fill the vacanc. <br /> At 8:15 P.AI. a hearing was held on_:the application of William Robert <br /> Permain for a Certificate with respect to the erection and display of a <br /> sign on the building at 6 Muzzey Street. It was announced that Airs. <br /> Samoylenko has an interest in the building next door. The chairman stated <br /> that unless some one objected he would allow Mrs. Samoylenko to serve, and, <br /> as there was no objected, Mrs. Samoylenko was permitted to sit. Air. <br /> Permain discussed the proposed sign. The hearing was closed at 8:25 P.M. <br /> Air. Jaquith s'~ited that three violations had been noted at the CVS store <br /> and that he had written. Tonight he noticed that the "CVS" letters were <br /> not lighted on the front of the store and that there were no lights on at <br /> the rear of the store. <br /> It was moved, seconded, and VOTED to issue a Certificate of Appropri- <br /> ateness to Ong Ong, Inc. with respect to the erection and display of a sign <br /> for the Yangtze River Restaurant on the building at 21025 Depot Square. <br /> Then follwed a discussion with Mrs. Holtze on her application for a <br /> Certificate with respect to the erection of a sign reading "The Threaded <br /> Needle" at the hearing of April 21st. The hearing was adjourned at 9:50 P.AI. <br /> Elizabeth Reinhardt submitted a bill for $16.00 for photographs. <br /> It was VOTED to approve bill for $103.15 from Barbara Gilson. <br /> The meeting was adjourned at 10:15 P.M. <br /> Georgia H.
