HISTORIC DISTRICTS COMMISSION <br /> March 3, 1976 <br /> A meeting of the Historic Districts Commission was held on Wednesday, <br /> March 3, 1976, in the Selectmen's Meeting Room. Present were Wilbur M. <br /> Jaquith, Chairman; Thomasl J. Holzbog; Donald J. Shaw; S. Lawrence Whipple; <br /> and Associate Commissioner Oliver F. Hooper who was appointed to serve for <br /> Georgia H. Williams. <br /> A heaaring was held at 8:00 P.hl. on the application of F. Gordon and <br /> Ethel A. Sullivan with respect to addition of a small porch on the front of <br /> the dwelling and an addition on the rear. It was stated that the rear addi- <br /> tion was not visible from a public way and, therefore, a Certificate was not <br /> required. Following discussion of the style and construction of the front <br /> porch, the hearing was adjourned. <br /> Letters to Mary E. Washburn re sign on building at 1620 Massachusetts <br /> Avenue and to Robert Permain re sign on Muzzey Street were approved. <br /> A hearing was held on the application of Walter Judge d/b/a Interiors <br /> Unlimited with respect to erection of a sign at 32 Waltham Street. It will <br /> be a wood sign painted white with black letters and logo. Hearing was <br /> adjourned at 9:15 P.M. <br /> John McSweeney met with the Commission to discuss the Revolutionary <br /> Monument. He stated that they are still working on flagpole problem. It <br /> was stated that the Rainbow Girls want to paint 8-10 hydrants around the <br /> Green in red, white, and blue; two students at Muzzey Junior High School <br /> want to decorate one of the trash receptacles. Following discussion, Mr. <br /> Hooper moved that the Commission find the proposal of the Rainbow Girls <br /> inappropriate, seconded by Mr. Whipple, and so VOTED. Mr. Jaquith moved <br /> that painting of a trash receptacle is inappropriate for the purposed of <br /> the Historic Districts Acts, seconded by hlr. Hooper and so VOTED. <br /> Mr. Jaquith stated that btr. Shaw has submitted his resignation as of <br /> <br /> March 31st due to position change which required traveling.
