HISTORIC DISTRICTS COMMISSION <br /> February 25, 1976 <br /> A meeting of the Historic Districts Commission was held on Wednesday, <br /> February 25, 1976, in Room G-15 of the Town Office Buidling. Present were <br /> Commissioners Wilbur M. Jaquith, Chairman; Donald J. Shaw; S. Lawrence <br /> Whipple; and Associate Commissioners Ruth B.Adams who was appointed to serve <br /> for Georgia H. Williams, and Oliver F. Hooper who was appointed to serve for <br /> Thomas J. Holzbog. S. Lawrence Whipple was elected Secretary Pro Tem. <br /> A hearing was held at 8:00 P.hl. on the application of Kim Fillmore <br /> d/b/a The Toad Stool. Colored drawings of the proposed sign were submitted. <br /> The sign would be 52" x 28", marine plywood 3/4" thick backboard, wood mold- <br /> ing, one faced, with green grass with green toad sitting on it, an orangy <br /> tan toadstool, and black letters reading "THE TOAD STOOL" on a white back- <br /> board. Following discussion of the sign and brackets for hanging, the <br /> hearing was adjourned at 8:45 P.M. <br /> At 8:45 P.M. Paul McCormack brought in the sign currently using on the <br /> building at 1620 Massachusetts Avenue. Following discussion, the hearing <br /> was adjourned at 9:20 PM. <br /> Then followed a brief discussion on the flagpole. blr. Shaw suggested <br /> that perhaps the Selectmen could approach Weyerhouse to donate a flagpole <br /> <br /> and use that information for advertizing. <br /> A brief discussion followed on the sign erected by Brigham's at their <br /> store on Worthen Road. <br /> It was moved, seconded, and VOTED to issue a Certificate to F. Wm. <br /> <br /> Smith with respect to unit 11 at 1009 Massachusetts Avenue. <br /> The meeting was adjourned at 11:25 P.M. <br /> S. Lawrence Whipple <br /> Secretary Pro Tem <br /> <br />
