Present weee Commis- <br /> sionsioners Wilbur bi. Jaquith, Chairman; Georgia H. Williams, Secretary; <br /> Thomas J. Holzbog; Donald J. Shaw; S. Lawrence Whipple; and Associate Com- <br /> missioner Oliver F. Hooper. <br /> At 8:10 P.M. a hearing was held on the application of Paul J. McCormack <br /> with respect to a hanging sign on the building at 1620 bassachusetts Avenue, <br /> which is within the Battle Green District. Following discussion on the <br /> hanging of the sign which would have to be done with rigid brackets and of <br /> the design of the sign, the hearing was adjourned at 8:20 P.M. <br /> At 8:20 P.M. a hearing was held on the application of Christos Kontos <br /> for a sign at One 6leriam Street which would have 10" high Roman style let- <br /> ters of 23 kt. gold leaf. Ernest Giroux, owner of the building, stated that <br /> he wants the sign to conform to others on the building. The hearing was <br /> adjourned at 8:26 P.M. <br /> At 8:27 P.bi. a hearing was held on the application of Kim C. Fillmore <br /> d/b/a The Toad Stool Boutique. Since drawings were not ready, this was <br /> adjourned at 8:30 P.bl. until the next meeting. <br /> Elizabeth Reinhardt of 10 Eliot Road, a member of the Historical Com- <br /> mission, appeared to discuss the Revolutionary Monument on the Green. Mrs. <br /> Williams stated that the original marker is at the Hancock-Clarke House. <br /> Mr. Whipple said that it is of smooth slate, not cracked, 3" thick, but that <br /> the edges were broken. The letters are very legible. It is possible that <br /> this marker could be used again, but the ultimate decision on using again <br /> would be up to the Historical Society. <br /> Then followed a brief discussion of the flagpole on the Green. The <br /> base is rotten, and so far John McSweeney has not been able to find a <br /> replacement flagpole. <br /> At 9:00 P.M. a hearing was held on the application of John Nicoloro <br /> d/b/a Roberta's Creative Craft Supply with respect to the erection of a sign <br /> on the store at 848 Massachusetts Avenue, which is within the East Village <br /> District. The background would be white to match others on the building, <br /> and the letters would be black. James Freeman, representing Jefferson Onion <br /> the new owners of the building, stated that he likes the idea of uniformity <br /> of signs. The hearing was adjourned at 9:30 P.M. <br /> Mr. Jaquith stated that an extension has been received from Amalia <br /> Samoylenko with respect to the building at 10-12 Muzzey Street. <br /> <br />
