• <br /> HISTORIC DISTRICTS COHI~SSION <br /> A meeting of the Historic Districts Commission was held on Wednesday, <br /> <br /> August 6, i975~ in the Selectmen's meeting Room, Town Offioe Building, Lex- <br /> ington. Present were Commissioners Wilbur M. Jaquith, Chairman; Thomas J. <br /> Holzbog; Donald J. Shaw; S. Lawrence Whipple: and Associate Commissioner <br /> Amelia G, Samoylenko. Hrs. Samoylenko was appointed to serve for Commis- <br /> sioners Georgia H. Williams who was unable to be present. It was moved, <br /> seconded, and VOTED that Mrs. 3amoylenko serve as Secretary Pro Tem. <br /> Mr. Jaquith stated that %energy, Inc. had withdrawn their application <br /> for a Certificate of Appropriateness with respect to the erection and dis- <br /> play of a sign on the building at 7-9 Muzzey Street, which is within the <br /> Battle Green District and therefore there would be no hearing on this <br /> application. <br /> At 8:05 P.H. Mr. Jaquith presented a draft of a Notice of Determination <br /> disapproving the application of Grace F. Rowe and Rowe Chevrolet for a Cer- <br /> tifioate of Appropriateness with respect to the erection and display of a <br /> new free-standing sign for the premises at 37-41 Bedford Street, which is <br /> within the Battle Green District. The Commission discussed their unanimous <br /> objections to this sign. After further discussion the Commission approved <br /> a revised Notice of Determination, <br /> At 9x00 P.H. the Commission discussed the application of Consumer Value <br /> Stores for a Certificate of Appropriateness with respect to the erection and <br /> display of a sign for the rear of the store at 1719-1721 Massachusetts Ave- <br /> nue, which is within the Battle Green District. All present agreed that the <br /> sign is not to be lighted. It was moved, seconded, and unanimously VOTED to <br /> issue a Certificate of Appropriateness to Consumer Value Stores with respect <br /> to the erection and display of a sign for the rear of the store at 1719-1721 <br /> Massachusetts Avenue, which is within the Battle Green District. It was moved, seoonded, and unanimously VOTED to issue Certifi- <br /> cates of Approval to Ruth NkCormack and Haryalene R, Dailey, H, Gordon <br /> Buchanan d/b/a Buchanan Real Estate, Mary E. Washburn, and Carol Johansen <br /> and Evelyn O'Leary with respect to the erection and display of signs on the <br /> building at 1620 Massachusetts Avenue, which is within the Battle Green <br /> District. Participating in this decision were Commissioners Wilbur H. <br /> Jaquith, Thomas J. Holzbog, Donald J. Shaw, S. Lawrence Whipple, and Asso- <br /> oiats Commissioner Amelia G. 3amoylenko. <br /> It was moved, seconded, and VOTED to approve payment of a bill from <br /> Barbara Gilson, Clerk, for July 1975 for $97.20 (Postage - $.95t Hearings - <br /> $22.75; and Clerical Services - $73,50). <br /> The meeting was ad3ourned at 1Ot30 P.H. <br /> ~~'i <br /> Amelia G.
