<br /> A meeting of the Historic Districts Commission was held on Wednesday,
<br /> August 28, 1974, in the Selectmen's Meeting Room, Town Office Building, Lex-
<br /> ington, Present were Commissioners Wilbur M. Jaquith, Chairman; Georgia H,
<br /> Williams, Secretary; Donald J, Shaw; S, Lawrence Whipple; and Associate Com-
<br /> missioners Oliver F, Hooper and Amelia G. Samoylenko, Mr, Hooper was appointed
<br /> to serve for Commissioner Thomas J, Holzbog who was unable to be present,
<br /> Mr, Shaw moved, seconded by Mr, Whipple, and unanimously VOTID that a
<br /> Certificate of Appropriateness be issued to Jean-Alain Dupon d/b/a Le Belle-
<br /> cour Restaurant with respect to the erection and display of a shadow box for
<br /> the restaurant at 10 Muzzey Street, which is within the Battle Green District.
<br /> Participating in this decision were Commissioners Wilbur M. Jaquith, Georgia
<br /> H. Williams, Donald J. Shaw, S. Lawrence Whipple, and Associate Commissioner
<br /> Oliver F, Hooper,
<br /> A hearing was held at 755 P,M, on the application of Raymond Edward
<br /> Straub for a Certificate with respect to the erection aryl display of a sign
<br /> for the store at 3 Mariam Street, which is within the Battle Green District,
<br /> Mr, Jaquith read the legal notice and application and stated that a problem
<br /> had arisen after Certificate No, 74 C-18 had been issued for a sign with the
<br /> legend "Straub - Swetzoff" for this location, Three scale drawings of the
<br /> new sign were submitted, The hearing was closed at 8:00 P,M.
<br /> It was moved, seconded, and unanimously VOTID to issue a Certificate of
<br /> Appropriateness to Raymond Edward Straub with respect to the erection and dis-
<br /> play of a sign for the store at 3 Mariam Street, which is within the Battle
<br /> Green District, Participating in this decision were Commissioners Wilbur M.
<br /> Jaquith, Georgia H. Williams, Donald J. Shaw, S. Lawrence Whipple, and Asso-

<br /> A hearing was held at 8x05 P.M, on the application of Florence C. Carroll
<br /> fora Certificate with respect to the erection of a fence on the premises at
<br /> 15-17 Muzzey Street, which are within the Battle Green District, Mr, Jaquith
<br /> read the legal notice and application, Mrs, Carroll submitted three plot
<br /> plans showing location of the proposed fence which is to run from the boundary
<br /> line at 19 Muzzey Street to the garage at the rear of the property where it
<br /> will tie into the end of the garage, This will be a 6' wooden stockade fence,
<br /> left to weather in its natural state to match the fence approved for 19 Muzzey
<br /> Street, The hearing was closed at 8s10 P,M,
<br /> Associate Commissioner Amelia G. Samoylenko was appointed to serve for
<br /> Commissioner Georgia H. Williams who was unable to serve on the application
<br /> of the Lexington Historical Society for a Permit for Removal of the Hancock-
<br /> Clarke House, Mr, Jaquith stated that four members were sitting who were not
<br /> officers of the Lexington Historical Society and one member who is an officer
<br />
<br /> was sitting, He asked if there were any objections to Commissioner Whipple
<br /> sitting on this application and, hearing none, declared that Mr, Whipple could
<br /> serve, It was moved, seconded, and VOTED to issue a Permit for Removal to the
<br /> Lexington Historical Society with respect to the removal of the Hancock-Clarke
<br /> House from its present location on the premises at 35 Hancock Street to the
<br /> location on the premises at 36 Hancock Street which it occupied in 1775 and
<br /> from which it was moved in 1896 to the present location; both of said premises
<br />
