HISTORIC DISTRICTS COMi~ffSSION <br /> A meeting of the Historic Districts Commission was held on Wednesday, <br /> August 21, 1974, in the Selectmen's Meeting Room, Town Office Building, <br /> Lexington, Present were Commissioners Wilbur M. Jaquith, Chairman; Georgia <br /> H. Williams, Secretary; Thomas J, Holzbog; Donald J, Shaw; S, Lawrence Whipple; <br /> and Associate Commissioners Oliver F, Hooper and Amelia G, Samoylenko. <br /> Mr, Jaquith announced that Mrs. Sarah Harkness had been appointed an <br /> Associate Commissioner to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of <br /> Royston T, Daley, <br /> Mr. Jaquith then read a letter that he had received from Brigham': re- <br /> garding the installation of extra trash receptacles at their store for the <br /> upcoming 200th Bicentennial celebration, Following discussion, it was decided <br /> that the Chairman should write to the Selectmen stating that the Commission <br /> had received this letter, that the Commission feels that any extra trash re- <br /> ceptacles installed for the Bicentennial should be uniform, and that the Com- <br /> mission feels that this problem comes under the jurisdiction of the Selectmen, <br /> A copy of this letter is to be sent to Brigham's, <br /> At $:30 P,M, a hearing was held on the application of Stephen Minasian <br /> for a Certificate with respect to the erection aril display of a sign for the <br /> theatre at 10 Muzzey Street, which is within the Battle Green District, The <br /> Chairman read the legal notice and application, Amelia G. Samoylenko repre- <br /> sented the applicant and submitted one drawing of the proposed sign. She <br /> stated that the business was incorporated as "Flicks" and that Mr. Minasian <br /> wished to use the word "Flicks" with the words "Art Cinema" in the sign, Fol- <br /> lowing discussion, it was moved, seconded, aril unanimously VOTED to issue a <br /> Certificate of Appropriateness to Stephen Minasian with respect to the erec- <br /> tion and display of a sign for the theatre at 10 Muzzey Street, which is <br /> within the Battle Green District. Participating in this decision were Com- <br /> missioners Wilbur M, Jaquith, Georgia H. Williams, Thomas J. Holzbog, Donald <br /> J. Shaw, and S, Lawrence Whipple, <br /> At 9:25 P.M. an adjourned hearing on the application of the Lexington <br /> Historical Society was h®ld. Associate Commissioner Oliver F. Hooper was <br /> appointed to serve for Commissioner Georgia H. Williams and Associate Com- <br /> missioner Amelia G, Samoylenko was appointed to serve for Commissioner S, <br /> Lawrence Whipple as they were unable to serve on this hearing. Three sets <br /> of Plot Plans showing the relocated Hancock-Clarke House at 36 Hancock Street, <br /> foundation plans for the relocated House and the proposed addition, and <br /> <br /> drawings of the proposed addition were submitted, Then followed discussion <br /> on the plans submitted. <br /> The meeting was adjourned at 10:30 P.M, , / <br /> G org~ H.
