i • <br /> HISTORIC DISTRICTS COI+AQSSION <br /> A meeting of the Historic Districts Commission was held on Wednesday, May <br /> 15, 1974, in the Selectmen's Meeting Room, Town Office Building, Lexington, <br /> Present were Commissioners Wilbur M. Jaquith. Chairman; Georgia H. Williams, <br /> Secretary; Thomas J. Holabog; Donald J. Shaw; and S. Lawrence Whipple, <br /> An adjourned hearing was held on the application of Seasons Four For a <br /> Certificate with respect to changes in the existing sign at 1265 Massachusetts <br /> Avenue, which is within the Munroe Tavern District. Roman Garulay submitted <br /> one drawing and samples of the proposed removable panels. He stated that a new <br /> backboard would be necessary but that it would be identical with the existing <br /> backboard. He said that the sign world remain similar to the existing sign <br /> with the addition of the words "Garden Center" balsa the xords "Seasons Four" <br /> and the deletion of the words "Leisure Living Center". The same logo would be <br /> used and the backboard would be off white with dark brawn letters. The remov- <br /> able panel at the bottom of the sign would be i' in height and the letters of <br /> the top line would be 4" in height and the letters of the bottom line xould be <br /> smaller. The letters would be painted a dark brawn color. It was decided that <br /> the letters of the words "Seasons Four" should be 8" and the letters for the <br /> words "Garden Center" should be 6". The hearing was adjourned at 8:45 P.M. <br /> Mr. Jaquith then asked when the aembers expected to be away on vacation <br /> and the following times were specified: <br /> Mr. Jaquith -August 3 to August 17 <br /> Mrs, Williams -July 20 to August 5 <br /> Mr, Hol$bog -June 15 to July 15 <br /> Mr, Shax -June 13 to June 23 and again in October <br /> Mr, Whipple -uncertain <br /> It was moved, seconded, and unanimously VOTED to issue a Certificate of <br /> Appropriateness to Cheryl's Bakery with respect to the erection and display of <br /> a sign for the store at 1734 Massachusetts Avenue, which is within the Battle <br /> Green District. Participating in this decision were Commissioners Wilbur M. <br /> Jaquith, Georgia H. Williams, Thomas J. Hol$bog, Donald J. Shax, and S. Lawrence <br /> Whipple, <br /> It was moved, seconded, and unanimously VOTED to issue a Certificate of <br /> <br /> Appropriateness to Norton, Kleven and Co., Ino, xith reapeot to changes in the <br /> building and the erection and display of a directory sign for the building at <br /> 3 Fletcher Avenue, which is within the Battle Green District. Participating <br /> in this decision were Commissioners Wilbur M. Jaquith, Georgia H, Williams, <br /> Thomas J. Holsbog, Donald J. Shaw, and S. Lawrence Whipple. <br /> Mr, Shaw asked if Peter Manickaa had a Certificate for installation of <br /> fencing in front of the buildings at 803. and 807 Massachusetts Avenue and was <br /> told that no Certificate had been issued. Mr, Shaw stated that ha feels the <br /> tower of the Cary Library construction is not in accordance xith the Certifi- <br /> cate and that it should be inspected for compliance before the Town accepts <br /> the buildir~, <br /> The meeting was adjourned at 11:15 P.M. <br /> orgi'a H.
