<br /> E' <br /> HISTORIC DISTRICTS C0I~ff3SION <br /> A meeting of the Historic Districts Commission was held on Wednes- <br /> day, March 15, 1972, in the Selectmen's Meeting Room, Town Office Build- <br /> ing, Lexington. Present were Commissioners Wilbur M. Jaquith, Chairman; <br /> Philip B. Parsons, Secretary; George E. Graves; Georgia H. Williams; and <br /> Associate Commissioner Albert T. Pitt. Mr. Pitt was appointed to serve <br /> for Commissioner Donald J. Shaw who was. unable to be present. <br /> Mr. Jaquith stated that he had received a letter of withdrawal of <br /> the application of Paul C. Signorelli for a Certificate of Appropriate- <br /> ness for the erection of fencing on the premises at 3 Tower Road, which <br /> is within the East Village District. <br /> An informal meeting was held at 8110 P.M. with Marilyn M. Harrison <br /> regarding the two-faced sign for Golden Hand Designers' Fabrics which <br /> she proposes to erect on the premises at 72 Waltham Street, which is <br /> within the Battle Green District. Mrs. Harrison submitted one rendering <br /> of the proposed sign and, following discussion, the meeting was ad3ourned <br /> at 8t33 P.M. A hearing on this application was scheduled for Thursday, <br /> April 6, 1972. <br /> A hearing was held at 8t35 P.M. on the application of Wilson Farms, <br /> Inc. for a Certificate of Appropriateness with respect to the erection <br /> of a two family dwelling at 632 Massachusetts Avenue, which is within the <br /> East Village District. Present for the applicant was Donald Wilson, <br /> Treasurer of Wilson Farms, Inc. Also present were Roland Gubisch of 627 <br /> Massachusetts Avenue; Mrs. A. Murray McAdam of 620 Massachusetts Avenue; <br /> Mrs. Sidney Lancaster of 626 Massachusetts Avenue; and Mrs. Lincoln P. <br /> Cole, Jr., Secretary of the Board of Appeals. Mr. Jaquith read the legal <br /> notice and the application for a Certificate of Appropriateness. Mr. <br /> Wilson submitted three sets of scale drawings and plot plans and stated <br /> that this is the same plan as used for the house erected at 5,56 Massachu~ <br /> setts Avenue in 1967 except that this house would face the Avenue rather <br /> than having the front face the side of the property. Mr. Wilson said <br /> that the house would not be sold and that they will put up a good build <br /> ing as they will have to live with it also. He stated that it would have <br /> a finished poured concrete foundation, would be painted white with a white <br /> door and green blinds, and would have a macadam driveway at the right side <br /> of the house with a parking area in the rear.The abuttors asked several <br /> questions and raised several points. In answer to one statement Mr. <br /> Jaquith said that the Commission has no control over zoning and has con- <br /> trol only over exterior architectural features.. Mr. Graves asked if the <br /> rear of the property could be seen from Massachusetts Avenue and Mr. Wilson <br /> said that it could be seen only from the farm. Mr. Gubisch asked about <br /> fill and Mr. Wilson said that they would add 18" of fill where necessary. <br /> In answer to a question about trees Mr. Wilson said that they will retain <br /> as many trees on the property as possible and that the trees along the <br /> sidewalk would remain. The hearing was closed at 1Ot17 P.M. <br /> <br />
