r <br /> ~ <br /> HISTORIC DISTRICTS COMtti'R.SSION <br /> MINUTES OF A MEETING HELD ON DECEM~R 2, 197(? <br /> The Historic Districts Camaci.ssion held a meeting on Wednesday, December <br /> 2, 1970, in the Bird Roam of the Cary Memorial Building, Lexington. Present <br /> were Commissioners Wilbur M. Jaquith, Chairman; Philip B, Parsons, Secretary; <br /> George E. Graves; Max H. Straw= Georgia H. Williams; and Associate Commis- <br /> sinner George W. Emory. <br /> A hearing was held at 7:32 P.M, on the application of Daniel C. Yuill, <br /> D.M.D. for a Certificate of Appropriateness with respect to the erection, <br /> display, and maintenance of a free standing sign for the premises at 20 Muzzey <br /> Street, which is within the Battle Green District. Mr. Jaquith read the let- <br /> ter requesting the hearing and the legal notice of this hearing, and also the <br /> ' Permit issued by the Board of Appeals for said sign. Present for the peti- <br /> tioner was Dr. Yuill who submitted three sketches and a photograph of the sign. <br /> Following discussion, the hearing was ad3ourned at 7;45 P.M. <br /> Mr, Jaquith withdrew and it was moved, seconded, and unanimously VOTED <br /> that Mr. Straw serve as Chairman Pro Tem. Mr. Emery was appointed to serve <br /> for Mr. Jaquith who was unable to sit on the following adjourned hearing. <br /> An ad~aurned hearing was held at 7x45 P.M. with respect to the submission of <br /> "a detailed description of the lighting fixture proposed to be installed over <br /> the night depository on the franc elevation of the building and a detailed <br /> description of the two»lamp parking area lighting fixture to be installed at <br /> the easterly end of the rear elevation" of the Harvard Trust Company building <br /> at 1761.1765 Massachusetts Avenue, which is within the Battle Green. District. <br /> Peter Steffi.an of Steffian, Steffian and Bradley, Architects, represented the <br /> Harvard Trust Company and submitted one scale drawing showing the ].ovation of <br /> the two fixtures and a sample of each of the two Lights proposed in accordance <br /> with exception 2. of Certificate of Appropriateness No. 70 C~10 dated April <br /> 29, Sg70. The fixture proposed for the front elevation is a cylindrical wall <br /> bracket down light, five inches in diameter, and of a matte black finish, <br /> (Prescolite ,~FC200-452}, The fixture proposed for the rear elevation is a <br /> double headed matte blank exterior area light by Stonco or equal. Following <br /> discussion, it was moved, seconded, and unanimously VOTED to approve the two <br /> lights to be installed. Participating in this decision were Commissioners <br /> Max H. Straw, Philip B. Parsons, George E. Graves, Georgia H. Williams, and <br /> Associate Cammi.ssioner George W. Emery. <br /> Mr. Jaquith stated that an extension to January 23, 1971 had been re- <br /> ceived from Gray G. and LaRue Howell Henry for the driveway at 11 Hancock <br /> Street. <br /> <br /> ;a <br /> Mr. Jaquith submitted three bills as fo7lowst Barbara Gilson, Clerk, <br /> far $61.10 for clerical services and postage; Hancock Press for $31.26 for <br /> 1000 Certificates of Appropriateness; and Hancock Press far $149.57 for 1$00 <br /> stamped envelopes (500 large and f00fl small). It was moved, seconded, and <br /> unanimously VOTED to approve payment of these bills. <br /> <br />
