HISTORIC DISTRICTS COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF MEETING HELD ON MARCH 5, 1969 <br /> The Historic Districts Commission held a meeting on Wednesday, <br /> March 5, 1969, at 7:30 P.M., iri the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Buil- <br /> ding, Lexington. Members present were Commissioners Wilbur M. Jaquith, <br /> Chairman, Philip B. Parsons, Secretary and Max H. Straw and Associate <br /> Commissioners Franklin C. Hudson, S. Lawrence Whipple and Gladys M. <br /> Moor®. <br /> Hearing was held at 7:30 P.M'. on the application of Arlex Auto <br /> <br /> Driving School for a Certificate of ,Appropriateness with respect to the <br /> erection and display of three signs on the building at 21 Depot Square., <br /> which is within the Battle Green District. The Chairman read the letter <br /> of application and the notice of hearing. PJLr. Hyman Garber of the School <br /> appeared and presented scale drawings of the proposed signs and photo- <br /> graphs of their proposed locations. Associate Hudson pointed out that <br /> the number "21" was already in use in Depot Square. Mr. Garber will <br /> check with the Town Engineer's office for a Correct number. Changes in <br /> the signs were suggested by Commission members and the applicant will <br /> return at a later date with corrected drawings. No other persons having <br /> appeared, the hearing was adjourned at 8:45 P.M. <br /> Hearing was scheduled at 8:15 P.M. on the application of the Trus- <br /> tees of Almarjo Realty Trust for a Certificate of Appropriateness with <br /> respect to changes in the exterior architectural features of the wooden <br /> building in the rear of 18la.l~. Massachusetts Avenue, which is within the <br /> Battle Green District. Neither the applicants nor their representative <br /> appeared. Upon a telephone call to Frederick J. Conroy, Attorney for <br /> the applicants, it was learned that the Board of Appeals had denied the <br /> application submitted to them by Almarjo Realty Trust and that therefore <br /> the application before the Historic Districts Commission would be with- <br /> drawn. A letter of withdrawal will be sent to the Commission by Attor- <br /> ney Conroy. <br /> Adjourned hearing was scheduled at 9:00 P.M. on the application of <br /> the Lexington sister City Committee for a Certificate of Appropriateness <br /> with respect to the erection and display of a sign on the premises at <br /> 11 Depot Sauare, which is within the Battle Green District. Neither the <br /> applicant nor a representative appeared. A telephone call by Chairman <br /> Jaquith to Mrs. Sperduto, Chairman of the Committee, revealed that <br /> corrected scale drawings of the proposed sign were not completed. The <br /> drawings will be submitted at a later time. <br /> The Chairman presented the following bills to the Commission: -A <br /> bill from Betty Adam in the amount of 10.00 and two bills from Elizabeth <br /> Flynn, one in the amount of X46.25 for services and one in th® amount of <br /> X2.69 for postage. Upon motion duly made and seconded, it waa Voted to <br /> process the bills for payment. <br /> An adjourned meeting is scheduled at 7:45 P.M., on Tuesday, March 18, <br /> 1969 to consider the application of A.rlex Auto Driving School. <br /> The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 P.M. <br /> Philip B.
