• • <br /> a <br /> MINUTES OF ADJOURNED MEETING HELD ON OCTOBER 30, 1968 <br /> The Lexington Historic Districts Commission held an adjourned <br /> <br /> meeting on Wednesday, October 30, 1968, in the Selectman's Room, Town <br /> Office Building. Members present were Commissioners Wilbur R2. Jaquith, <br /> Chairman, Philip B. Parsons, Secretary, Ruth G. Bevan, George E. <br /> Graves and Max H. Straw and Associate Commissioner George W. Emery. <br /> Adjourned hearing was held at 7:45 P.NI. on the application for a <br /> Certificate of Appropriateness by Hanlon~s Shoes with respect to the <br /> erection and display of a sign for the store at 1725 Massachusetts <br /> Avenue, which is within the Battle Green District. The Chairman <br /> showed the Commission a sample oP matte plcxiglas forwarded to him by <br /> Mr. Shear of Back Bay Sign Co., Inc. Discussion was held and the Com- <br /> <br /> mission members recessed to view the store and the proposed location <br /> of the sign on the building. nor. Jaquith will contact Mr. Shannon, the <br /> Manager of the store, with regard to the submission of new scaae <br /> drs.wings with modifications suggested by Commission members as to size <br /> of the sign, size of lettering and a lighting hood. The adjourned <br /> hearing was adjourned at 9:00 P.M. <br /> Adjourned hearing was held at 9:05 P.M. on the application of <br /> Joseph and Theodora F. E. (Kalem) Grano for a Certificate of Appropriate- <br /> ness with respect to the erection of a two car shed at 611 Massachusetts <br /> Avenue, which is within the East Village District. After discussion, <br /> upon motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously VOTED to issue a <br /> Certificate to the applicant with modifications included that were dis- <br /> cussed with and approved by the applicant. A copy of the Certificate <br /> issued will be forwarded to the Board of Appeals. The adjourned hearing <br /> was closed at 9:45 P•M• ~ <br /> The Chairman advised the Commission that Harold Stevens, Esquire <br /> had informed him that the I~TCw York office of Shell Oil Company was not <br /> in favor of changing the design of the standing sign for the Service <br /> Station now under construction at 1095 Massachusetts Avenue. <br /> The Chairman also advised that he had received a letter from <br /> Stephen Russian, Esquire with regard to the Trani property at 1037-1049 <br /> Massachusetts Avenue. Tha latter did not clearly state whether or not <br /> the property had been sold by Mr. Trani. <br /> The next meeting night is scheduled for November 13, 1968 to <br /> consider the applications of Wendel3. H. Burgess for the installation of <br /> aluminum combination storm windows at 2 NTa11is-Court and of Hancock <br /> Congregational Church for a Certificate to maintain four ventilators <br /> on the roof of the building; at 1912 P.Iasstchusetts Avenue. <br /> The adjourned meeting was adjourned at 10:45 P.M. <br /> ~ N,r, Philip B.
