<< <br /> <br /> ~r'... <br /> MINUTES OF MEETING HELD ON MAY 22, 1968 <br /> The Lexington Historic Districts Commission held a meeting on Wed- <br /> nesday, May 22, 1968, in the Selectmen~s Room, Town Office Building. <br /> Members present were Commissioners Wilbur M, Jaquith, Chairman, Philip B. <br /> ' Parsons, Secretary, Ruth G. Bevan, George E. Graves and Max H. Straw and <br /> Associate Commissioners George W. Emery and Donald B. White. <br /> Hearing was held at 7:30 P.M. on the application of RHD Realty and <br /> Development Co. for a Certificate of Appropriateness with respect to the <br /> erection and display of e sign for the Battle Green Tnn on the premises at <br /> 26-32 Waltham Street, which is within the Battle Green District. David UV. <br /> Pierce, Manager of <br /> the Inn and Harry Priest of Astro Signs appeared. Scale <br /> drawings submitted to the Commission ware not complete and the location of <br /> the sign on the premises was not definite. The Chairman will check with the <br /> Building Inspector with regard to the Sign By-Law on this sign and will ad- <br /> vise the applicant. No other persons having appeared, the hearing was <br /> adjourned at 8:35 P.M. <br /> Commissioners Bevan and Straw retired from the meeting at this time. <br /> The Chairman dictated to the Glerk the following paragraph for inclusion <br /> in the Minutes: <br /> n.....on the applications filed by Howard W., Janc A. and Mary H. <br /> Foley on December 29, 1967 on which a hearing was held on February I~ <br /> 7, 1968 and which hearing was adjourned to allow submission of ~ <br /> additional data at a later date and the time for acting on the <br /> applications was successively extended to June 1, 196$. ttie~~: Chair- 'I <br /> man read copies to the Commission of letters sent by Attorney May j <br /> to Dr. Foley on March 7, 1968 and April 2!}, 1968, a letter to the <br /> Chairman from Attorney May, dated April 2L}, 1968 and the Chairman~s <br /> letter to Attorney May of May 9, 1968. In the letter the chairman <br /> informed the applicant that final action on the application would <br /> be taken by the Commission at the May 22, 1968 meeting unless a <br /> representative of the applicant was present at the meeting or the <br /> application was withdrawn. No withdrawal of the application was <br /> made before the meeting and no representative of the applicant ap- <br /> peared at the meeting. Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was <br /> unanimously VOTED that the applications of the coleys filed on <br /> December 29, 1967 be denied for lack of prosecution of said applica- <br /> tions and without prejudice to the filing of a new application at <br /> a later date." <br /> Commissioners Bevan and Straw returned to the meeting and plans for <br /> the Shall Oil Company demolition and new building ware reviewed by the <br /> Commission in preparation for the hearing to be held an June 12, 1968. <br /> At 9:30 P.M. Vdilliam P. Kenealy of 7 Hancock Avenue appeared to in- <br /> formally discuss with the Commission plans for the demolition of a porch <br /> and the erection of an addition to the dwelling. A formal hearing on this <br /> application is scheduled for 9':00 P,M. at the next meeting night which will <br /> be on Wednesday, June 12, 1968, in the Selectmen' <br /> ~sy~.~gp~,/~own ~~G re Bldg.... <br /> The meeting was adjourned at 11:00 P.M. ~.,..y~ <br /> Philip B.
