tas9 r,~' <br /> The Historic Districts Commission met at the time and place specified <br /> in the public notice of hearing on the application for a Certificate of <br /> <br /> Appropriateness by Deugls.s Saunders with respect t® the erection and <br /> display of a sign for the st®re at 852 Massachusetts Avenue, which is with- <br /> in the East Village District. <br /> Members present were Commissioners Wilbur M. Jaquith, Chairman, <br /> Philip B. Parsons, Secretary, Max H. Straw and George E. Graves, and <br /> Associate Coaaniasioners Georg® W. Emery and Donald B. White. <br /> The Chairman read the letter of application and the notice of hearing. <br /> Mr. Saunders appeared in his own behalf and presented scale drawings of the <br /> proposed sign. The applicant inquired about the installation of a barber <br /> pole. The Chairman advised him that he wished to study previous policy <br /> regarding barber poles and asked that Mr. Saunders return at a later date. <br /> <br /> Upon motion duly ffiade and seconded it was unanimously VOTED to issue a <br /> Certificate with respect to the sign ~¢o the applicant. No other persons <br /> having appeared th® hearing was elcased at 8:15 P.M-. <br /> Adjourned hearing was held at 8:20 P.M. on the application of Rowe <br /> Chevrolet, Inc. with respect to the erection and display of signs for'the <br /> new and altered building referred to in Certificate No. 68 C-2. Upon <br /> <br /> m®tion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously VOTED tv issu® a Certi- <br /> Picate t® the applicant with respect to the sign to be affixed t® said <br /> building. New scale drawings for the standing sign were presented and <br /> discussed. Issuance of a Certificate will be made after the Board of <br /> Appeals~decisioa, The adjourned hearing was adjourned at 8:35 P.M. <br /> Commissioner Stray retired frmm the meeting at this tim®. An informal <br /> <br /> meeting was held at 83!}5 P.M. with ARessrs. Norman Allay, Charles H. Cole, II, <br /> Evert F®wl®, Parker Hirtle and Fred ~,ldrich in regard to the Foley applica- <br /> tion to be heard on February 7, 1968. <br /> The Chairman presented the following bill to the Commissians <br /> Minute Man Publications, Inc. X6.00 <br /> Upoa mention duly made and seconded, it was unanimously VOTED to approve <br /> payment of the bill.. Further motion was made at this time that "the Chair- <br /> max,~ be authorised to approve publication bills without Commis~ion vote"; <br /> motion was seconded and unanimously VOTED. <br /> The. Clerk was directed t® contact Mr. LaRoche of The Pot Shop and <br /> George E. Rowe of Rowe Chevrolet, Inc, with respect to their written r® - <br /> quest to eztend their time limit to March 1, 1968. These must be in the <br /> hands of, the Commission by February 5, 1968. <br /> Applications received fra~m Monsignor Casey, Paetwr of St. Brigid~s <br /> Church and Rmbert L. Ly®n will be scheduled far hearing on February 21, <br /> 1968. <br /> The next meeting night is scheduled for.
