~ Mme, 1467 <br /> The Historic Districts Co~nission met at the time and place <br /> specified in the public notice oP the hearing on the application for <br /> a Certificate of Appropriateness with respect to the amendment to <br /> <br /> Certificate of Appropriateness X210, previously issued, with respect <br /> to the exterior architectural Features of the single family dwelling <br /> <br /> with two-ear attached garage on the premises at Lot G, Tav®rn. Lane, <br /> <br /> which is within the Munroe Tavern District. <br /> Present were Wilbur fit. Jaquith, Chairman, Philip B. Parsons, <br /> Secretary, Ruth G. Bevan, George E. Graves and Associate Commissioner <br /> <br /> George W. Emery. <br /> The hearing opened at 7:40 P.M., and the Chairman read the notice <br /> of hearing and the letter of application. Mr. Robert Ray, Foreman for <br /> <br /> Moore Homes, Inc., app®ared in behalf of Mark Moor®, Jr. and presented <br /> revised Plot Plans Por the property and color swatches and a stained <br /> board for the Commissioner consideration. Mr. Robert Gary, President <br /> of the Lexington Historical Society was present in the interest of the <br /> <br /> Munroe Tavern, which abutts Lot G, Tavern Lane. <br /> The hearing was adjourned at 8:17 P.M. <br /> IIpon motion duly made and seconded, it was VOTED as Follows to <br /> issue an Amendment to Certificate of Appropriateness to Moore Homes, <br /> Inc. with respect to the exterior architectural features oP the single <br /> family Swelling with two-car attached garag® referred to and des- <br /> cribed in Certificate #210 issued by the Commission on March 30, <br /> 1967: <br /> AFFIRMATIVE - Messrs. Jaquith, Graves .and Parsons <br /> NEGATIVE - Mrs.. Ruth Bevan and Mr. George Emery <br /> Mrs. Bevan questionned the roles of the Board oP Appeals and the <br /> Historic Districts Commission on matters of interest to both. The <br /> Chairman stated that he Felt that communication between the Board and <br /> the Commission would be greatly improved with the appointment of <br /> Associate Commissioner George W. Emery as an ABSOCiate to also serve <br /> on the Board of Appeals. <br /> Discussion was held as to the proper use of "white paint". Does <br /> the Act say "---except a color may b® changed to white without a <br /> hearing"? The Chairman Pelt that this was the wording. Mrs. Bevan <br /> said that the word "changed" was possibly the key word as to the per- <br /> <br /> muted use of "white paint" without the Commissioner approval. <br /> The Chairman stated that he had observed the "Two Worlds" sign <br /> in Depot Square, as suggested by Mrs. Bevan, and that he, too, felt <br /> that it is not in ~.ecordance with the Certificate issued, and that <br /> the owners should be asked to do it ever correctly.. The Chairman <br /> plans to writ® a letter to Mrs. English. in this regard. <br /> Mr. Emery questionned the over-due planting at the Stop & Shop. <br /> April ls, 1967 had been the deadline. The matter will be looked into. <br /> Also, the Chairman expressed his intention of writing to Mr, Roland <br /> Wardrobe, who resides on Massachusetts Avenue within the Munroe Tavern <br /> District, concerning the erection oP fencing on the premises without <br /> <br />
