r <br /> November 30, 1966 <br /> The Historic Districts Commission met at the time and plats specified in the public <br /> n ce of the hearing on the application of Lexington Federal Savings and Loan Association <br /> for a Permit to Demolish the buildings Located at 1832 - 1$38 Massachusetts Avenue, which <br /> is .thin the Battle Green District. <br /> Present wero Wilbur M. Jaquith, Chairman, Philip B, Parsons, Secretary,. George E. Graves, <br /> Ruth G. Bevan and Max H. ,Straw and Association Commissioners Carl E. Bryant and Donald B. <br /> <br /> White. Mr. Bryant and Mr. White represented Commissioners Bevan and Straw on the first <br /> two hearings. <br /> The chairman read the notice of hearing and the letter of application. Mr, Gardner <br /> Ferguson of Lexington Federal Savings and Loan Association and Mr. Whitten of Hutchins ~C <br /> French, Architect, of Boston, represented the applicant and answered questions asked by t he <br /> commission meters, <br /> Upon motion duly m~lde and. seconded, it was unanimously VOTED to issue a Permit for <br /> Demolition to Le::in~ton Federal Savings & Loan Association for the demolition of the <br /> present buildings at 1832 - 1838 Massachusetts Avenue, which is within the Battle Green <br /> District„ <br /> The chairman read the nvtico of the hewing on the application of Lexington Federal <br /> Savings and Loan Association for a Certificate of Appropriateness with respect to changes <br /> in the exterior architectural features of the buildings and to changes in the signs on the <br /> buildings at 1832 - 18?~0 Massachusetts, which is within the Battle Green District. <br /> The chairman stated that due to an error in the legal notice advertisement, the hearing <br /> ~ ll be adjourned until Wednesday, December 1lt. However, since the applicatnt was prosent <br /> at the hearing, it was agreed that the s eels drawings of the proposed building be shown to <br /> the commission mombers and those present. <br /> Hearing was held at 8:50 r,~. on the application of J. Rush for a Certificate of <br /> Appropriateness with respect to the removal of the sign at 1736 Massachusetts Avenue and <br /> the erection of tie sign at 14 Waltham Street, which is within the Battle Green District. <br /> The chairman read the notice of hearing and the letter of ~ plication. Mr, Rush was <br /> present in his own behalf and presented the commission with a sample of the type of lett~~ <br /> to be used on the sign as well as photographs showing the original. sign and the proposed <br /> location of the sign on ~'JSltham Street. Many questions were asked Mr. Rush and it was <br /> agreed that Mr. Rush plan to meet on December 1l~. with the commission and to present a <br /> scale drawing of the proposed dign at that time. <br /> Hearing was held on the application of Felix Realty Trust for a Certificate of <br /> ApAropriateness rri.th respect to changes in the exterior architectural featcu~es of the <br /> building at 1806 - 1810 Massachusetts Avenue on the corner of Muzzey Street, which is v0. thin <br /> the Battle Green District, <br /> ~`he chairman read the notice o£ hearing and the le tter of application.
