TOWN OF LEXINGTON Ma.~rachr~retxr . 02173 HISTORIC DISTRICTS COMMISSION June 15, 1966 0 The Historic Districts Commission met at the tim® and place specified in the public notice of the hearing on the. application of Tern of Le~ngton f®r a Certificatm of Appropriateness with respect to the a rection and display of a new sign at t he corner of Massachusetts Avenue and Meriam Street, which is within the Battle Green District. Present were Donald R. Grant, Chairman, Philip B. Parsons, Secretary, Ruth G. Bevan, Wilbur Jaquith and Associate Commissioners Carl E. Bryant and Max H. Straw. The chairman read the letter of application received from John Carroll, Superintendent of Public forks, and showed the commission the scale drawing of the proposed sign submitted with the application. Present and speaking in regard to the application were Lee Tarbox,of the Chamber of Commerce, Leslie York of the Public Facilities Committee Ruth Morey of the Lexington Historical Society and Selectmen Lincoln P. Cole. There was much discussion regarding this application, and it was agreed that the chairman would arrange a meeting with the aelectmon on Monday, June 29, 1966, at which time there would be further discussion on the proposed signs. Mrs. Morey stated that sidewalks are proposed in front of the Munroo Tavern, and that she would like t he comed.asion to view the markings of the sidewalk. Mr. Parker Hirtl® of the Building Committee of the First Parish Church (Unitarian) appeared before the commission with the Architect for the proposed new church school building on the rear of the present church building. A model, scale drawing and elevations ware shown to ibhe commission, and it was agreed that as soon as the First Parish Church had approved the iaric~tivg erection of the - proposed building, an application would b® filed with the commission. ~ i The meeting was adjourned at 9s3~,.8~~ ~~,Z,~~C-`~...f~`-.r ~ Philip 3~.
