TOWN OF LEXINGTON <br /> Ma.~rachr~retxr <br /> <br /> . 02173 <br /> HISTORIC DISTRICTS COMMISSION <br /> June 15, 1966 <br /> 0 <br /> The Historic Districts Commission met at the tim® and place <br /> specified in the public notice of the hearing on the. application of Tern of <br /> Le~ngton f®r a Certificatm of Appropriateness with respect to the a rection <br /> and display of a new sign at t he corner of Massachusetts Avenue and Meriam <br /> Street, which is within the Battle Green District. <br /> Present were Donald R. Grant, Chairman, Philip B. Parsons, Secretary, <br /> Ruth G. Bevan, Wilbur Jaquith and Associate Commissioners Carl E. Bryant and <br /> Max H. Straw. <br /> The chairman read the letter of application received from John Carroll, <br /> Superintendent of Public forks, and showed the commission the scale drawing of <br /> the proposed sign submitted with the application. <br /> Present and speaking in regard to the application were Lee Tarbox,of <br /> the Chamber of Commerce, Leslie York of the Public Facilities Committee <br /> Ruth Morey of the Lexington Historical Society and Selectmen Lincoln P. Cole. <br /> There was much discussion regarding this application, and it was agreed that <br /> the chairman would arrange a meeting with the aelectmon on Monday, June 29, 1966, <br /> at which time there would be further discussion on the proposed signs. <br /> Mrs. Morey stated that sidewalks are proposed in front of the Munroo <br /> Tavern, and that she would like t he comed.asion to view the markings of the <br /> sidewalk. <br /> Mr. Parker Hirtl® of the Building Committee of the First Parish Church <br /> (Unitarian) appeared before the commission with the Architect for the proposed <br /> new church school building on the rear of the present church building. A model, <br /> scale drawing and elevations ware shown to ibhe commission, and it was agreed that <br /> as soon as the First Parish Church had approved the iaric~tivg erection of the - <br /> proposed building, an application would b® filed with the commission. <br /> ~ i <br /> The meeting was adjourned at 9s3~,.8~~ ~~,Z,~~C-`~...f~`-.r <br /> ~ <br /> Philip 3~.
