March 9, 1966 <br /> The Historic Districts Commission met at the time and place specified <br /> in the public notice of the hearing on the application of Henri Hairstylists, Inc. <br /> for a Certificate of Appropriateness ~i,th respect to-the erection and display of a <br /> new sign at 31t Bedford Street, which is within the Battle Green District. <br /> Present were Donald R•'Grant, Chairman, P hilip B. Parsons, Secretary, <br /> Ruth G. Bevan, George E. Graves and Wilbur M. Jaquith and Associate Commissioners <br /> Max H. Straw and Donald B. White.. <br /> The chairman read the letter of application a nd the notice of hearing. <br /> Bar. John P. Sarasin appeared in behalf of the applicant and showed the commission a <br /> drawl ng of the proposed sign. Mr. Passinnissi of Stop & Shop Inc. appeared and <br /> stated that Stop & Shop had approved of the proposed sign, but would consider changes <br /> in the sign. Mr. Sarasin answered questions asked by the commission members, and it <br /> was agreed that he meet with the commission on March 16, 1966, at 7s15 P.M, and <br /> submit to the commission three copies of tie scale drawing of the sign. The hearing <br /> was adjourned at 8:25 P.M• <br /> Hearing was held at 8s15 P.M. on the applica lion of ?doors Homes Inc.. <br /> for a Certificate of Appropriateness with respect to the erection of a dwelling on <br /> Lots B & 3a, Eliot Road, which is within the Monroe Tavern District. <br /> The chairman read the notice of hearing and the letter of application <br /> received ffbm Mark Moore Jr. The chairman stated that he had talked with Mr. Moore <br /> on the telephone regarding the application and that Mr. Moore would be out of town <br /> on the date of the hearing, and he would be represented by a foreman. Mr. Moore s <br /> foreman stated that the porch was in the process of being constructed. There were <br /> many questions asked, and the question was raised if the porch would be visible from <br /> any public street or way. <br /> Mr. and Mrs. Richard P. Cromwell of 9 Tavern Lane were present at the hearing <br /> and stated that there were verydisappointed with the location of the porch. <br /> It was agreed that the hearing be adjourned until +~a.rch 16, 1965, at which <br /> time the applicant would have more complete drawings to t~nibmit to the commission. <br /> Mr. White raised the question as to whether or not tY~ struct,ures on the <br /> roof of Stop & Shop building were satisfactorily screened.
