<br /> r~ December 13, 1965 <br /> The members of the Historic Districts Commission met at 8:15 P. M, with <br /> the Board of Selectmen aid discussed the possibility of re-lettering the <br /> existing sign at the foot of Meriam Str ut so that it could be used as <br /> the directional sign boas to the new Public Facilities Building and to the Municipal <br /> Parking lot. The selectmen VOTED to make application to the commission to re- <br /> letter said sign, and it is the understanding of the members of the commission that <br /> the Public Informational Building Committee will withdraw so much of its <br /> pending application as it relates to an additional sign for use solely in <br /> conrioction with the new building. <br /> Present were Donal A. Grant, Chairman, Philip B. Parsons, Secretary, <br /> Wilbur M. Jaquith, George E. Graves, Ruth Bevaa and Associate Comm-ssioner <br /> Max H. Straw. <br /> At 8s1~5 P.M. the members of the commission met in the Conference Room, <br /> Police Building. <br /> The chairman stated that ha had written a letter dated December 10, 1 965, <br /> to Charles F. Mooney, M« D. regarding the sign pGreek Orthodox Church" erected <br /> at the foot of Meriam Street, ad3acent to the Battle Green. <br /> The chairman stated that he had talked to Donald Irwin, Buildings <br /> Inspector and Myron Graffam, d/b/a Minute Ma.n Stamps, with regard to the two <br /> proposed signs to be erected on the building at 6 Muzzey Street. Mr. Irwin <br /> stated that two signs to be used on the building would be in violation of the <br /> Sign By-Law of the Town of Lexington, and Mr« Graffam agreed to the erection <br /> of only one signs the one facing Massachusetts Avenue« <br /> Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was VOTED t© issue a Certificate <br /> of Appropriateness to Myron Graffam, d/b/a Minute Man Stamps with respect to the <br /> erection and display of a sign to be erected on the second floor level of the <br /> northeasterly elevation of the building at ~ Muzzey Street, which is within t he <br /> Battle Green Bistri~t. <br /> Discussion was had with regard to the application of the "Public <br /> Facilities and Information Center Committee" for a Certificate of Appropriateness <br /> for additional lighting on the Public Facilites Building, Which is within the <br /> Battle Green District. The booklet which contained the proposed lighting fixture <br /> which was submitted to the commission at the mseting on December 9, 1865, was <br /> studied by the members of the commission. It was agreed that Mr. Parsons <br /> discuss the proposed lighting with Mr. Leslie York and the committee, and <br /> further action will be deferred until the next meeting of the commission on <br /> January 5, 1966. <br /> The meeting was adjourned at 9s25 r~ ~j~/~ <br /> ` Ph.3`Zip B.
