November 17, 1965 <br /> The Historic Districts Commission met at the tuns and place specified <br /> in the public notice of the hearing on the application of Trusteea of the 1775 <br /> Realty Trust for a Certificate of Appropriateness with respect to the exterior <br /> architectural features of the proposed building to be erected at 1777 A 1793 <br /> Massachusetts Avenue, which is within the Battle Green District. <br /> Present were Philip B. Parsons, Secretary, Wilbur M. Jaquith, George E. <br /> Graves, Ruth Bevan and Associate Commissioner Max H. .Straw. The chairman being <br /> absent from the meeting, upon motion duly made and seconded, it was VOTED that <br /> <br /> Wilbur M. Jaquith be elected Chairman Pro Tenpore. <br /> Th,m chairman read the notice of hearing.. Present in behalf of Trustees <br /> of the 1775 Realty Trust were Charles H. .Cole, Architect, and Frederick J. Conroy, <br /> acting as agents Mr. Cole showed the corranissi®n a plot plan of the area and. <br /> renderings of the MassaehusettsA.venue and Emery Park side of the proposed building, <br /> Many questions were asked Mr. Cole and Mr, Conroy by the commission members, The <br /> renderings wesre shown to those present at the hearing, and the chairman asked if <br /> any one present at then hearing wished to be heard, 14r. Robert Bittenbendesr, 85 Meria~tt <br /> Street, stated that kae did not believe that the commission should issue a certificate <br /> to the applicant until the elevation of the rear of the building can be viewed. No <br /> one else wishing to be heard, the hearing was adjourned at 9x15 P.M. <br /> The eommisafon agreed that an adjourned meeting be held on the application <br /> of Trustees of 1775 ]3ealt y Trust on W®dnesday, December 1, 1965, at 8:15 F.I., at which <br /> time Mr. Coln would submit to the commission elevations of the four sides of the <br /> proposed building, a plot plan and specifications covering the exterior dimensions <br /> and features of the building. <br /> Mr. Karl Nyren and Mrs. Elizabeth Clark appeared in behalf of the application <br /> of the Trustees of Cary Memorial Library, the hearing of which was held on November 10, <br /> 1965. They presented the commission with a drawing of the wall and fences to be used. <br /> Many questions were asked by the me~ibers and the hearing was adjourned at 10:25 ~'.M. <br /> Upon motion duly made arxi seconded, it was VOTED to issue a certificate of <br /> appropriateness to the Trustees of Cary Memorial Library with respect to changes in <br /> the exterior architectural features of the; library and the surrounding structures at <br /> 1871 Massachusetts avenue, which is within the Battle Green District. <br /> Thee meeting was adjourned at 12:10`J~,i~~;~~~'' <br /> Philip B.
