February 3, 1965 <br /> The Historic Districts Commission met at the time and place specified in the <br /> ~blic notice of the hearing on the application of Z. D. Tarlin, Trustee, ®f <br /> hens Realty 2'rust~ for certificates of appropriateness for the proposed building <br /> to be erected and proposed signs to be displayed on the premises which front on both <br /> Bedford Street and V6'orthen Road, which is within the Battle Green District. <br /> Present were Donald R. Grant, Chairman, rhilip B. Parsons, Secretary, Wilbur <br /> Jaquith George E. Craves and Associate Commissioner Carl E. Bryant. <br /> The chairman read the letter of application and the notice of hearing. He stated <br /> for those present that the commission had held previous meetings with the applicant <br /> although no aggeements had been made. Also present at the hearing w®re John Silva, <br /> Manager, rlanning 3. Engineering Department; Harold E. Fine, Vice 'resident Engineering <br /> Department; David Sawyer; Mr. Crowley and other representatives of Stop & Shop Inc. <br /> Mr. Fine and Mr. Silva presented the commission with an elevation rendering <br /> in color showing th•: supermarket and stores, plot plan, scaled drawings, and a <br /> sample of the proposed brick and a sample of the shingles to ba used in the supermarket <br /> building. Mr. Sawyer presented the commission with scale drawings of the proposed signs <br /> to be erected in connection with the building. The commission members asked the <br /> $top & Shop representatives many questions regarding the plans. Many abuttors were <br /> present at the hearing, and they xere given an opportunity to view the plans and <br /> drawings. There was no opposition to the application. The hearing was adjourned at <br /> 9:10 Y. 34i. <br /> Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was VOTy' to issue a certificate of <br /> appropriateness to L. D. Tarlin, Trustee of Athens Realty ~1'rust, with respect to the <br /> erection of a supermarket building and certain signs on the premises which face on <br /> both Bedford Street and Worthen Road, which is within the Battle Green District. <br /> Hearing. was held at 9110 r. M. on the application of Mark Moore, Jr., Trustee <br /> of Moore Realty Trusty for changes in the exterior architectural features in the <br /> dwelling to be erected at 11jt Hancock Street, formerly 42 Hancock street, which is <br /> within the Hancock-Clarke District. <br /> The chairman read the letter of application and the notice of hearing. He <br /> stated for those present at the hearing td~e background of the application and stated <br /> that the original certificate of appropriateness had been issued June 16, 1964. <br /> l~dr. Moore appeared in his own behalf and presented the commission w ith a set of <br /> scale drawings and a color sample of the paint to be used on the exterior of the <br /> dwelling. Many questions were asked by thr_ commission members and by those present <br /> at the hearing. There was no opposition to the application. Ths hearing was <br /> adjourned at 950 ii• <br /> Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was VOTED to issue a certificate of <br /> appropriateness to Mark Moore, ~r., Trustee of P:ioore Realty Trust with respect to <br /> changes in tt~ exterior architectural features of the single family dwelling with <br /> two-car garage which was aparoved by the commission on June 15, 1964, on the premises <br /> now known as 44 Hancock Street, but formerly known as 42 `Yancock Street, which is within <br /> <br /> ~he Hancock-Clarke '~istrict. <br /> The meeting was adjourned at 11~ 50 P.;~f. ~~~iy~ I <br /> Philip `arsons <br /> Secretary <br /> <br />
