October 25, 1961 <br />The Historic Districts Commission met at the time and place <br />specified in the public notice of hearing on the application of Erwin R. <br />Brilliant for a certificate of appropriateness for the erection of signs <br />on the premises at 9 Muzzey Street, which is within the Battle Green <br />• District. <br />• <br />P resent were Donald R. Grant, Chairnan, Philip B. Parsons, <br />Secretary, Donald E. Legro and Cyrus wood and Associate Commissioner <br />Charles A. Cole. <br />Appearing in his own behalf was Erwin R. Brilliant. The chairman <br />read the letter of application. Various questions were asked tie <br />applicant by members of the commission. Dr. Brilliant stated that he <br />would be willing to withdraw his request for a third sign if that seemed <br />feasible. The hearing was adjourned et 8:20 P. M. <br />On motion made and duly seconded, it was unanimously VOTED to <br />grant to Erwin R. Brilliant a certificate of appropriateness for the <br />erection and display of two signs on the front or the building at 9 Muzzey <br />Street. <br />Hearing was held at 8 :20 P. M. on the application cr Depositors <br />Trust Company for a certificate of appropriateness for the erection of signs <br />and changes in the exterior architectural features on the banking premises at <br />Depot Square, which is within the Battle Green District. <br />Appearing in behalf' of the application was Mr. Donald F. Munro, <br />Assistant Treasurer and'Manager, Depositors Trust Company. The chairman <br />read the letter of application and showed drawings submitted with the <br />application. Mr. Munro also pointed out the proposed changes on the architect <br />plans. Questions were asked by various members of the commission. <br />On motion made and duly seconded, it was unanimously VOTED to grant <br />to Depositors Trust Company a certificate of appropriateness for changes <br />in the exterior architectural features of the bank building and with <br />respect to new signs to be displayed on said building in Depot Square. <br />Discussion was held at 8 :40 P. M. on the application of Kenneth M. <br />Smith with regard to the painting of the building at 10 Rear Muzzey Street. <br />Questions were asked Mr. Smith by members of the commission. The chairman <br />read the letter of application received from Mr. Smith and Custance Brothers. <br />On motion made and duly seconded, it was unanimously VOTED to grant <br />to Kenneth M. Smith a certificate of appropriateness with respect to a <br />changes of one of the colors on the exterior of the building at 10 near <br />Muzzey Street, which is within the Battle Green District. <br />Discussion was held with Arthur T. Bernier, d /b /a Tiny Tone Inc., <br />who presented the commission with a scale drawing of the proposed sign to <br />be erected at 1551 Massachusetts Avenue. Various questions were asked <br />Mr. Bernier by the members of the commission. <br />
