• October The Historic Districts Commission met at the time and place specified in the public notice of hearing on the application of nilliaam G. Bernier and Arthur T. Bernier, d /b /a 'Tiny Towne Inc., dated September 7, 1961, for a certificate of appropriateness for the erection c . f a sign on the premises at 1851 Massachusetts Avenue, wb.'-'ch is within the Battle Green District. Present were Donald E. Legro, Philip B. Parsons, Secretary, Cyrus ' Edwin B. orthen, Jr., and Associate Commissioner Arnold :-. Howard. In the absence of the chairman, it was voted to appoint Donald E. Legro, Lha.irir:an Pro Tempore. Appearing in behalf of the applicati:n was Mr w illiara u. Bernia'� who presenteda sketch of the design of the sign as it ' „ould appear at the above address. Questions were asked by various mer.bers of the commission. Mr. Bernier stated that the sign could have a White '' cuci.- ground with black letters, and that there would be,,rr molding around the sign. He was unable to describe tho thickness of the Lett rs in the words "infants” and ° "toddlers ". No other person appeared eliher for or against the application. Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was VOTED that the s,,_etch as submitted at the hearing was inadequate for the comission to issue a certificate of appropriateness and that det rr ina.tion on the applic i of Tiny 'Towne Inc. be deferred until Oct_beiQ-;l:5, 1961) that the applicant be given an opportunity to present at that time a scale drawing of the proposed sign in sufficient detail to enable the commission to make a determiLation, and that the chairman pro tempore be directed to so notice the applicant, Hearing was held at 8:15 P. . on the application of Dee E.
