• <br />October <br />The Historic Districts Commission met at the time and place <br />specified in the public notice of hearing on the application of nilliaam <br />G. Bernier and Arthur T. Bernier, d /b /a 'Tiny Towne Inc., dated <br />September 7, 1961, for a certificate of appropriateness for the <br />erection c . f a sign on the premises at 1851 Massachusetts Avenue, wb.'-'ch <br />is within the Battle Green District. <br />Present were Donald E. Legro, Philip B. Parsons, Secretary, Cyrus <br />' Edwin B. orthen, Jr., and Associate Commissioner Arnold :-. <br />Howard. In the absence of the chairman, it was voted to appoint <br />Donald E. Legro, Lha.irir:an Pro Tempore. <br />Appearing in behalf of the applicati:n was Mr w illiara u. Bernia'� <br />who presenteda sketch of the design of the sign as it ' „ould appear at <br />the above address. Questions were asked by various mer.bers of the <br />commission. Mr. Bernier stated that the sign could have a White '' cuci.- <br />ground with black letters, and that there would be,,rr molding around the <br />sign. He was unable to describe tho thickness of the Lett rs in the <br />words "infants” and ° "toddlers ". No other person appeared eliher for <br />or against the application. <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was VOTED that the s,,_etch <br />as submitted at the hearing was inadequate for the comission to issue <br />a certificate of appropriateness and that det rr ina.tion on the applic i <br />of Tiny 'Towne Inc. be deferred until Oct_beiQ-;l:5, 1961) that the <br />applicant be given an opportunity to present at that time a scale <br />drawing of the proposed sign in sufficient detail to enable the <br />commission to make a determiLation, and that the chairman pro tempore be <br />directed to so notice the applicant, <br />Hearing was held at 8:15 P. . on the application of Dee E. <br />Tarbox for a certificate of appropriateness for the continued display of <br />the existing sign on the premises at 4 r ?uzzey Street, which is within <br />the Battle Green District. <br />The chairman read the letter of a .pplictPlon App.:: ;ng in favor <br />of the application was Mr. Lee E. Tarbox, who answered �;- Aeons regarding <br />the signs in cuestion. elide No. 29 was viewed by the np11cant and the <br />members of the commission. The hearing was adjourned al -8:25 P M. <br />On motion made and duly seconded, it .;as unanimously vOTED to <br />grant to Lee E. Tarbox a certificate of appropri teness for the <br />continued display of two existing signs on the premises at 4 4}uzzey Street. <br />Hearing was held at 8 :30 -?. 1N. on the application of Christine <br />M. L. Smith for a certificate of appropriate.iess for the erection of <br />structures on the premises at 9 - la.
