PLANNING BOARD MINUTES
MEETING OF MAY 6, 1985
The meeting of the Lexington Planning Board held in Room G-15, Town Offices, was
called to order at 7:35 p.m. by the Chairman, Mrs. Smith, with members Cripps,
Flemings, Sorensen, Uhrig and Planning Director Bowyer present.
124. APPLICATIONS TO THE BOARD OF APPEALS
30 Albemarle Avenue, Mary Brennan: Variance, Dwelling: Mr. Bowyer reported that
a review of the deeds showed that the two "lots", for which the variance was
requested to construct a new dwelling, had been conveyed as part of a larger
parcel with its frontage on Cliff Avenue. Mr. Sorensen reported that he had
viewed the site and there was a garage on this "lot" which served the house on
Cliffe Avenue. Building Commissioner DiMatteo has commented to the Board of
Appeals that the two lots have been combined by use. On the motion of Mr. Soren-
sen seconded by Mr. Cripps, it was voted unanimously to recommend that the peti-
tion for the variance be denied because this appears to be one lot which has been
combined by use and deed.
SUBDIVISION OF LAND
125. Farmhurst V, off Bridge Street, Special Permit: The Board signed the correc-
ted version of the decision of the Special Permit for this conventional subdivi-
sion which had been approved on April 29, 1985.
ARTICLES FOR 1985 TOWN MEETING
125. Article 17, Health Hazards: Mr. Sorensen reported that a concensus had been
reached among Ann White, the sponsor of the article, Jim Lambie of the Board of
Health, and others that the article would be indefinitely postponed. He urged
that the Planning Board should attempt to define the meaning of "Light Manufac-
turing" better in the Zoning By -Law.
126. Article 23, Franklin School Conversion: Mrs. Smith said she understood that
the motion to reconsider the Franklin School conversion would be made that even-
ing. In an informal poll of the Board it was agreed the Planning Board still
unanimously supports the proposal.
127. Article 51, Pine Meadows acquisition: Mrs. Smith reported that Emerson
College had made an offer to acquired the Pine Meadows Golf Course for about
twice the price the Town had offered. There was a brief discussion of the poten-
tial impacts on the Cedar Street and Reed Street neighborhoods of having a col-
lege located there.
REPORTS
128. Planning Director
a. Personnel: Mr. Bowyer reported that Lorraine Salto had submitted her
resignation effective May 24. With her family responsibilities, she will
not be able to work full time when the secretarial position becomes full
time at the start of the next fiscal year. She has been an extraordinary
contributor to the Planning Department and will be missed.
