PLANNING BOARD MINUTES
MEETING OF JUNE 4, 1984
The meeting of the Lexington Planning Board held in Room G-15, Town Offices, was
called to order at 7:11 p.m. by the Chairman, Mrs. Smith, with members Flemings,
Sorensen, Uhrig, and Planning Director Bowyer present. Mr. Cripps was absent.
129. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of the meetings of March 5, March 12, and the executive session of May
7 were corrected and on the motion of Mr. Sorensen, seconded by Mrs. Flemings, it
was voted 4-0 to approve the minutes of those two meetings and the executive
session, as corrected.
On the motion of Mrs. Flemings, seconded by Mr. Sorensen, it was voted 4-0 to
approve, as written, the minutes of the meetings of March 19, April 23, 25, 30, May
2, 7, 9, 14, 21 and the executive session of May 21.
ZONING ENFORCEMENT
130. 4-6 Sherburne Road: The Board was in receipt of a letter from Building
Commissioner Peter DiMatteo dated May 23, 1984 stating he had issued a stop work
order in order to preserve the status quo until the legal and factual questions
could be resolved in a quasi-judicial forum by the Board of Appeals. He suggested
that the Planning Board file a petition with the Board of Appeals. On the motion
of Mr. Sorensen, seconded by Mrs. Uhrig, it was voted 4-0 to appeal the lack of
enforcement action taken by the Building Commissioner, as represented by his letter
1 dated May 23, 1984, in response to the Planning Board's request for enforcement
contained in its letter dated May 8, 1984.
REPORTS
131. Planning Board Members, Subcommittees
HATS: Mrs. Uhrig reported on a meeting of the Hanscom Area Traffic Committee held
on May 15, 1984 which was attended by Secretary of Transportation and Construction,
Frederick Salvucci and Associate Commissioner, Kenneth Kruckemyer. Salvucci had
favorable comments about North Lexington Traffic Improvements and thought that
project should move along. He said the State needed to take a comprehensive view
of the Route 128 problem because requests similar to the reconstruction of Bedford
Street are being received from a number of cities and towns along Route 128. He
opposed the widening of Route 3 because that would simply force additional conges-
tion onto Route 128. There was much discussion by Lincoln and Concord representa-
tives about Route 2 west of Route 128. Salvucci said there would be prompt action
on "interim safety improvements" and work on a plan which would probably involve an
underpass at Bedford Road and Crosby's Corner.
