PLANNING BOARD MINUTES
MEETING OF MAY 9, 1984
The meeting of the Lexington Planning Board, held in Room G-15, Town Offices, was
called to order at 7:40 p.m. by the Vice Chairman Mr. Sorensen, with members
Cripps, Flemings, Uhrig and Planning Director Bowyer present. Chairman Smith
joined the meeting in progress.
REPORTS
120. Housing Needs Advisory Committee: Town Meeting Questionnaire: Acting Chair-
man Eleanor Klauminzer was present with Ruth Nablo and William Spencer of the
Committee to describe a proposed opinion survey to be distributed to Town Meeting
Members. Mrs. Klauminzer said there were two reasons for the survey: 1) to place
policy questions before Town Meeting Members early; Town Meeting often only has an
opportunity to react to specific proposals and not to provide input on policy; and
2) to provide an opportunity to gauge public attitudes; the housing analysis is
primarily data oriented and does not deal with perceptions and attitudes.
She explained the plan was to make a brief presentation to the Town Meeting under
Article 2, to distribute the questionnaires and to have Town Meeting Members
return completed questionnaires to a designated person in each precinct or to mail
them to the Planning Board office.
ARTICLES FOR 1984 TOWN MEETING
121. Article 24, 16 Hayden Avenue, CD District: (Mrs. Uhrig disqualified herself
from the discussion and vote on this article.) Gregory Muzzy, Vice President of
Temple, Barker and Sloane, was present to report that, after the defeat of Article
24 on May 7, TBS had decided to revise the plan by removing the penthouse from the
roof. He said several Town Meeting Members had told him that if the building were
lower, they would vote for the rezoning.
Mr. Muzzy showed a revised plan which involves the removal of the penthouse and
the placement of air conditioning equipment on a pad on the site. He had a
drawing showing the height of the proposed building, as revised, in relation to
the height of the existing house.
In a poll of four members of the Planning Board, it was agreed the revision was
acceptable and the Planning Board would continue to recommend that the Town Meet-
ing approve the proposed CD district.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:07 p.m.
Judith J. Uh2g. Clerk C/
