MINUTES OF PLANNING BOARD MEETING
March 28, 1981
The meeting of the Lexington Planning Board was called to order at 7:07 p.m. by the
Chairman, Mrs. Wheaton, with members Nichols, Sandy, Smith, Sorensen, Planning Director
Bowyer and Assistant Planner Asen present.
50. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
No action was taken on this item.
51. APPLICATION TO BOARD OF APPEALS
482 Bedford Street, Tektronix, Inc.: The Board reviewed a draft report on the
petition of Tektronix, Inc., for a special permit with site plan review. There
was extensive discussion. One idea that emerged was that the granting of a vari-
ance should not be encouraged or condoned. It was agreed that more time was
needed on the report and discussion would be resumed at the meeting of March 25,
1981.
52. ARTICLES FOR 1981 ANNUAL TOWN MEETING
Article 16, Swimming Pools: Eric Clarke, of the Board of Appeals, was present
and furnished the Board with copies of a proposed substitute motion, which had
been reviewed by Town Counsel, on Article 16. Mr. Clarke said that after the
defeat of Article 16 at the Town Meeting session of March 18, the situation was
very confusing and that his substitute motion was intended to restore the situa-
tion to what it was assumed to be in the last two years. The Planning Board con-
curred that Mr. Clarke's proposed amendment would restore the procedural require-
ments for swimming pools to what was intended by the action of the Town Meeting
in 1979 in requiring the issuance of a special permit for swimming pools.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
1
Laura F. Nichols, Clerk
