PLANNING BOARD MEETING <br />June 10, 1974 <br />' The meeting of the Lexington Planning Board was called to order at 7:30 <br />p.m. by the Chairman Dr. Clarke, with members L. Brown, Costello, S. <br />Brown, MacKenzie, planning director Briggs and secretary Mrs. Snow <br />present. Also in attendance were Margaret Rawls, Vice-chairman Conser- <br />vation Comm., and Anne Scigliano, Lexington Minute -Man. <br />The minutes of Planning Board meeting of May 13 were approved as written. MINUTES 5.13 <br />Mr. Briggs reported on his conference with Town Engineer and with Mr. <br />Hamilton, developer of Farmhurst, SEction 5 subdivision, regarding -re— FARMHURST V <br />c _ garding requirements for hydraulic information to be supplied by SUBDIVISION <br />Mr. Hamilton prior to Planning Board action on his subdivision plan. DRAINAGE <br />Engineering Dept. letter on the subject dated May 24, was noted. To <br />allow time for Mr. Hamilton to prepare the abovementioned report, upon a <br />motion duly made and seconded, it was VOTED: <br />To extend to July 16, 1974, inclusive, the time on or before which <br />the Lexington Planning Board must act on the definitive subdivision <br />plan entitled "Farmhurst, Section 5 in Lexington, Mass.", dated <br />January 11, 1974, as requested by Diane E. Hamilton, applicant. <br />The Town Clerk will be informed of this action of the Board. <br />Letter from Donald Jenkins, Jr., dated June 7, 1974, requesting that the SPRINGDALE <br />' Planning Board waive requirement for sidewalk construction in Springdale ESTATES - <br />Estates subdivision, was noted. Mr. Briggs reported on his site review SIDEWALK <br />of the cul-de-sac. Upon a motion duly made and seconded, it was VOTED: WAIVER <br />To waive the requirement as stated in Section 7.3.5 of the Rules and <br />Regulations Governing the Subdivision of Land, for installation of <br />sidewalks in Springdale Estates, Lexington, Mass., as requested by <br />Donald Jenkins, Jr. developer. <br />The Town Engineer will be notified of the modification of the definitive <br />plan for Springdale Estates, as approved by the Planning Board on Dec. 18, <br />1973. <br />Letter from Cary Memorial Library, dated June 5, 1974, requesting approv- CARY LIBRARY <br />al of the Bd. of Selectmen of proposed parking lot plan for the library PARKING PLANS <br />was noted, and the plan reviewed. Mr. Briggs will prepare a draft letter <br />of recommendations to the Selectmen for consideration of the Board on <br />June 17. <br />Martin Bernard and Attorney John Hamilton met with the Board at 8:50 p.m M. BERNARD <br />for discussion and presentation of proposal for land use (Burlington BURLINGTON <br />Arcade) at the Lexington/Burlington line, subject of Board of Appeals ARCADE B/A <br />hearing on June 18. Mr. Hamilton explained the requests for variances, <br />and Mr. Bernard's offer to deed a 100' buffer strip to the Town for con- <br />servation land. It was generally agreed that the restrictions on such <br />conservation land would be prohibitive as to future widening of Lowell <br />St., and that ownership should remain with the developer, with responsi- <br />bility for maintenance. Later in the evening, the draft letter by Mr. <br />MacKenzie on the petition, was reviewed. The letter, recommending that <br />the proposal be presented at Town Meeting as a rezoning article, and that <br />the petition to the B/A be denied, was approved as written. <br />
