PLANNING BOARD MEETING
<br />January 7, 1974
<br />The meeting of the Lexington Planning Board was called to order at 7:30 p.m.
<br />by the chairman Dr. Clarke, with members Costello, L. Brown, Graham,
<br />S. Brown, planning director Briggs and secretary Mrs. Snow present. Also
<br />in attendance were Elizabeth Ives, LWV, Kenneth Kreutziger, DAC, and
<br />Anne Scigliano, Lexington Minute -Pian.
<br />At 7:30 p.m., Mr. & Mrs. Joseph DiMarzo, John Self, architect, and DI MARZO B/A
<br />R. Tillinghast, realtor, met with the Board to present a plan to be WALTHAM ST.
<br />subject of a B/A petition for variance for paritally commercially (CG)
<br />zoned lot at Waltham St. near Marrett Rd. Mrs. DiMarzo described her
<br />plan to conduct a sewing -craft materials business and to renovate the
<br />existing, building, and Mr. Self explained the need for variance to allow
<br />commercial parking in the rear portion of the lot which is in RS zone.
<br />Projected traffic pattern and access plan were discussed. The Planning
<br />Board was asked its view on the proposed layout plan prior to finaliza-
<br />tion and submission to the Board of Appeals.
<br />The Board reviewed a plan submitted by James E. Chase with Application FORM A74-1
<br />Form A74-1, showing land taking at Highland Ave. (under Art. 58 and 59 HIGHLAND AVE.
<br />'73). Mr. Briggs reported on his conference with Town Counsel and his TOWN OF LEX.
<br />recommended notation on the plan. Upon a motion duly made and seconded,
<br />it was VOTED:
<br />The plan entitled "Plan of Land in Lexington, Mass.", dated Dec. 27,
<br />1973, by Barnes Engr. Co., submitted on Jan. 2, 1974, by James E.
<br />' Chase, Town Engineer, with Application Form A74-1, showing land at
<br />Highland Avenue, requires no approval under the Subdivision Control
<br />Law.
<br />The plan was so endorsed by members of the Board.
<br />A plan submitted by the Town Engineer with Application Form A74-2, FORM A74-2
<br />showing conservation brook easements at Bow St. and notation, as recom- BOW ST.
<br />mended by Town Counsel, were reviewed by the Board. Upon a motion duly TOWN OF LEX.

<br />The plan entitled "Plan of Land in Lexington, Mass.", dated Dec. 27,

<br />tion brook easements at Bow St., requires no approval under the
<br />Subdivision Control Law.
<br />The plan was so endorsed by members of the Board.
<br />A draft letter by Mr. Briggs to the Board of Appeals concerning the DOUGLASS OFFICE
<br />Douglass Office Building petition (hearing 1/8/74) was "reviewed. Engr. BLDG. B/A 1/8
<br />Dept. verbal approval of the proposed plan was reported by Mr. Briggs.
<br />It was voted that the letter be approved as written.
<br />Progress to date with preparation of maps showing wetland areas and WETLAND ARTICLE
<br />preliminary procedures implemented to establish them were described by MAPS
<br />Mr. Brown. The maps were reviewed by the Board and it was agreed that
<br />150 ft. setback from all existing streets in the proposed Wetland districts
<br />should be considered. The Planning Staff and Mr. Brown, with the assis-
<br />tance of Mr. Kreutziger, DAC, will proceed in the same manner to identify
<br />areas to be considered for proposal at 1974 A.T.M. as Wetland.
