PLANNING BOARD MEETING <br />May 12, 1969 <br />The Planning Beard meeting was held in its office on May 129 1969 <br />at 7:30 p.m. Chairman Lund opened the meeting with the following <br />members present: Messrs. Clarke, Graham, Worrell and planning <br />director Zaleski. <br />The first item discussed was a letter to the Committee of Urban <br />Affairs regarding the legislative proposal based on H2924 and <br />other bills, asking the Committee to oppose H2924 and support <br />cooperation between state and local planning agencies to resolve <br />the housing problem. It was approved as amended. <br />BILL H2924 <br />HOUSING <br />A letter to the Selectmen, stating the Planning Board's opinion PL. BD. POLICY <br />that the policy of requiring a 30' pavement in the construction PAVEMENT WIDTH <br />of new streets should be adhered to for all new subdivisions with 30' <br />perhaps a waiver from this standard in cases of an existing way <br />if jap tified by unusual circumstances, was discussed and approved <br />as amended. <br />A letter to the Board of Appeals relative to the Hartwell Trust <br />proposal for a motel on Bedford St. was discussed and approved <br />as amended. <br />A draft of a report on the needs of land for library expansion <br />with comments by the planning director were discussed briefly and <br />' placed in the file. <br />The letter regarding the repetitioning of Dominic Deflice for a <br />variance for a reduction in the side yard of the office building <br />on Worthen Rd. was discussed and it was decided this matter did <br />not require additional recommendations from the Planning Board. <br />A letter from Mr. Robert Hinckley regarding drainage problem at <br />the Bushnell Dr. Subdivision°=was considered next. The planning <br />director was asked to write Mr. Hinckley stating the Planning <br />Board is studying the way to correct this problem and ask him to <br />permit William Sullivan to perform the necessary work on the Hinck- <br />ley land to alleviate this matter. <br />Upon a motion duly made and seconded, it was VOTED: <br />That a final grading plan for subdivisions would be a require- <br />ment in the future to prevent such problems as this, due to <br />improper grading. <br />Chairman Lund opened the public hearing on the Oak Park Sec. II <br />Subdivision at 8:00 p.m. and asked Mr. Dana McKechnie, the head <br />engineer for the subdivision to present the layout plan. Chairman <br />Lund also read letters from the Town Engineer and the Board of <br />Health with recommendations. Mr. Walter E. Steeves, an abuttor to <br />the Oak Park Subdivision was recognized by the chair and stated <br />that the Town has an option to buy the parcel of land he owns. He <br />expressed his main interest that, should the Town not buy this <br />property, he would like the protection of being assured of some <br />access to his property.
