PLANNING BOARD MEETING ' May 1, 1967 A regular meeting of the Lexington Planning Board was held in its office, Town Office Building, on Monday, May 1, 1967. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Greeley at 7:30 p.m. with members Fowle, Lund, Riffin and Worrell, and Planning Director Zaleski present. Articles for the June 12, 1967 Special Town Meeting SPECIAL TOWN were signed by members of the Board. The method of restric- MEETING ting funeral homes in R 1 district to major streets only was discussed. Messrs. William Sullivan, Bushnell and Cantor met with the Board to discuss a proposed subdivision of Mr. BUSHNELL- Bushnell's land at Waltham St. and Worthen Rd. Mr. Sullivan SULLIVAN and Mr. Cantor questioned the wisdom of subdivision entrance SUBDIVISION from Worthen Rd., particularly because of the potential con- nection of Worthen Rd. to Rte. 2. The Board was unanimously in favor of Worthen Rd. entrance as being substantially safer and farther away from the corner. ' Resuming the discussion on the location of funeral homes, the Board voted to amend the article by adding after the word "funeral homes" the words "on streets designated by the Planning Board as arterial streets." Mr. Fowle recorded himself as being opposed to the article. Minutes of the meeting of April 24, 1967 were approved.MINUTES The Board next discussed the Amherst Rd. extension by Schumacher. Mr. Fowle made the point that the future closing SCHUMACHER of Bonair Ave. access to Mass. Ave. may result in a dead-end street_of more than 650 feet length for the four lots at the end of Amherst St. Mr. Greeley pointed out that other solu- tions may be available at that time, such as other streets be- ing developed to provide alternate routes. Public hearings on zoning amendments were scheduled as follows: HEARINGS May 18, Estabrook Hall - Articles I, J, L, M, K, D SCHEDULED May 22, Science Hall - E, F, G, X, XX, H May 24, Science Hall - A, XXX, B, Greene -Gallagher It was decided to assign the specific articles to mem- bers of the Board as follows: R.
