PLANNING BOARD MEETING <br />' June 4, 1964 <br />A regular meeting of the Lexington Planning Board was held <br />Thursday, June 4, 1964,,in its office, Town Office Building, Lex- <br />ington, Mass. The meeting was called to order at 8:10 p.m. by <br />Chairman Meyer, with members Bryson, Campbell and Riffin and <br />planning director Zaleski present. <br />The Board met with the chairman of the Board of Appeals, <br />Mr. Donald Nickerson, regarding the Article 23 of the June 8, <br />1964, Special Town Meeting on Nursing Homes, Convalescent Homes <br />and Rest Homes being included in the permitted uses in R 1 district <br />with Board of Appeals special permit. Mr. Nickerson stated that <br />the town counsel had asked him whether he had any objections to the <br />insertion of the article and that he (Nickerson) had none, but that <br />neither would he care about the outcome of the vote an the article. <br />After Mr. Nickerson's departure, the Board proceeded to review Art. <br />23 and decided to recommend adoption of the article. <br />NURSING <br />HOMES <br />REPORTS ON <br />ARTICLES FOR <br />SPECIAL TOWN <br />MEETING <br />Article 16 - rezoning of Spring St. area to C 3 - was con- <br />sidered next and the majority was opposed to the rezoning (Meyer, <br />Campbell in favor, Riffin and Bryson opposed) with a majority and <br />minority reports being submitted. <br />Article 18 was discussed next. It was decided to arrange <br />for Art. 18 being considered first before Art. 17 and to arrange <br />for reconsideration of Art. 18 after Art. 16 is voted on, chair- <br />man to discuss this with the moderator. <br />Article 15 was discussed next and the draft prepared by <br />Mr. Zaleski approved, recommending the adoption of the Article. <br />Mr. Greeley came at 9:50 and discussion on Article 23 <br />was reopened, the previous decision was upheld with Riffin and <br />Greeley abstaining. <br />Article 22 was discussed next, the majority was opposed <br />to rezoning, Mr. Campbell will prepare a minority report. <br />Article 19 was reviewed next and the draft prepared by <br />Mr. Greeley modified. <br />Discussion on Article 16 was reopened and drafts worked <br />on without change of opinion. <br />Article 17 was reviewed then and the draft approved. <br />It was decided also to support the acquisition of Lyon <br />land and Conservation Commission request for authority to con- <br />tract with Federal Government and for the Soil Survey, but not <br />NURSING <br />HOMES <br />REPORTS ON <br />ARTICLES FOR <br />SPECIAL TOWN <br />MEETING <br />
