PLASM BOARD MEETING <br />Monday, June 13,1955 <br />Present: Adams - Abbott, Grindle, Hathaway, Irwin, Jaquith - Snow, Stevens <br />Meeting opened at 7:30 o'clock. <br />$earn% - Changes U 'Street Names <br />A public -hearing was held in Estabrook Hall at 7:30 in regard to -a <br />proposal to change the names of the following streets: <br />Hill Ave., an unaccepted way, to Welch Road <br />Summit Ave,, an unaccepted way, to Estabrook Road <br />This proposal is sponsored by the Lexington Planning Board in order to <br />avoid confusion caused by a similarity in names since there is already a <br />Summit Road and a Hill Street. Two citizens were present - Walter Holman <br />and Peter Carpenter. Mr. Holman. protested, stating that Summit Avenue <br />had been named and recordedin 1893 and Summit Road was not named until 1917 <br />and he felt that inasmuch as he had lived on Summit Avenue all his life he <br />should not be expected to change his address at this time. He felt it was <br />an injustice to change the name of the older street. He presented a <br />letter of protest containing 9 signatures, which included the total number <br />' of persons living on Summit Avenue and Massachusetts Avenue at the corner <br />of Summit Avenue. The Hearing closed at 7:110 o'clock. <br />Appropriation Caamittee <br />The members of the Pistssing Board adjourned to meet with the APPV0 + <br />priation Committee for an informal discussion in regard to the proposed <br />municipal parting area and the proposed road from Bedford. Street to Mas so. <br />chusetts Avenue. <br />Tem ilta Inc* <br />The members reconvened -in the Stnginserts office at 8:15 at iddah <br />time Mr. Sullivan of Techbuilt, Inc, presented part -of a preliminary plan <br />for subdivision in the Robinson Road -Route 128 area. Date for hearing was <br />tentatively set for Tuesday, July 5 provided Form C -and other necessary <br />data we filed with the Planning Board by June 20th, <br />Re--.:amlIttee__ <br />lis. Ruth Morey, Messrs. Gratia, Samborski and Stokias of the Re- <br />creation Committee met with the Plambing Board for informal discussion. <br />Among other paints brought out was the opinion that it was within the juris— <br />diction of the Planning Board to decide or suggest where recreation areas <br />were needed and to acquire land fdr the same while the Recreation'Committse <br />should cooperate with the Planning Board in these matters and then go on <br />from there in providing facilities and programs.
