PLANNING BOARD MEETING
Monday, March 2, 1953
Present: Adams, Hathaway, Irwin, Johnson, Potter, Ripley.
Meeting opened at 7:45 o'clock.
Bills
Mlls presented as follows: Adams Press, advertising two hearings
Feb. 21, March 5, Site & Shelter, "Street„ - $7.52. John Lichtenberg, bring-
ing population map to date, six months, $46.40. Unanimously voted the bills
be paid.
Universal Building Corp.
Mr. Ducharme, Mr. Platine, and Mr. Harris Reynolds, attorney, appeared
with plans for development of Universal Building corporation in which they
had made a slight change. He also stated that tho Planning Board was tri ng to look
ahead and do what was best for the town as a whole but there wire certain
limits beyond which they could not go.
Mr. Reynolds, speaking for his client, said that this was not a new
plan, it has been under consideration since 1940 at which time plans had been
approved by the than Board of Survey; that Universal Building Corp. had
planned a development of good homes which would be a credit to the town, and
he did not believe the Planning Board or the Town could legally stop a de-
velopment simply because it increased a traffic problem which already existed.
The general feeling of the citizens present was that they objected to
the development on the grounds of an increased traffic hazard. The plans Were
taken under, Advisement and for consultation with Mr. Stevens.
Leeland Construction Co.
Mr. Leeland McConchie and Mr. Nylander appeared with plans for
