SPECIAL PLANNING BOARD MEETING
Wednesday, June 18,1952
Present: Adams, Hathaway, Irwin, Johnson, Potter, Ripley.
Meeting opened at 5 o'clock.
McLaughlin
1
lmb
Meeting adjourned at 6 o'clock.
10
D. D. Hathaway
Clerk
Meeting for discussion on petition of 11r. Charles McLaughlin
for change of zoning on proposed housing project. It was the feeling
of Mr. Stevens that neither the Planning Board nor the Board of Select-
men could act on the petition as presented as it would mean a change of
zoning over a large area, which would be a town meeting matter. The
Board favors Mr. 7,TcLaughlinls building plan in that the area is a good
location whereas the government might buy less desirable sites, or take
land which may be harmful to the town.. Also the possibility of aban-
donment would not be present if individually owned. Mr. McLaughlin also
will adhere to all town specifications whereas there would be no control
over anything if government built. Taxes would also be available, and
some help toward schooling would be available.
It% Ripley moved, Mr. Potter seconded, that the Planning Board
at the present time indicate its willingness to present to a town meet-
ing the rezoning of this area as requested by Mr. McLaughlin - and that
Mr. McLaughlin present to us at the earliest possible time any further
relevant information. So voted. Mr. Burns to get information on what
aid the town can get, also the probable taxes.
1
lmb
Meeting adjourned at 6 o'clock.
10
D. D. Hathaway
Clerk
