'a <br />PLANNING BOARD el1WING <br />Monday, October 8,1951 <br />Presents Adams, Caouette, Irwin, Johnson, Potter, Ripley. <br />Meeting opened at 700 p.m. <br />Discussion on matter of combining front and back lots to make re- <br />quired frontage on accepted street in order to build on back Late - property <br />of Desimone, and Silva. Decided that as a matter of principle the Board did <br />not object. <br />S,arria <br />Letter from Mr. Daniel Lynch res Carrig proposed development - Minute <br />Ban Center - asking that petition previously received requesting change from <br />R-1 to C-2 district be changed to read "Change from R-1 to C-1 zone." The <br />Board agree to comply with this request. Area affected designated fib Route 2 <br />easterly to Arlington line, westerly to Pleasant Street; Pleasant Street be- <br />tween junction of Watertown Street and Route 2; %tertowa Street from Pleasant <br />Street to Belmont line; all streets mentioned to include abuttors both sides <br />and all land within those boundaries. Also Towns of Arlington and Belmont to <br />be notified. <br />Discussion on problem of housing arising from expansion of Air Base and <br />new research laboratory. Will bring in about 5000 employees and will be on a <br />basis of 15-25 years at least. Unless the problem can be worked out quickly . <br />it will result in this area being designated as critical and Federal housing <br />which is non-taxable. It was suggested the problem be studied with the idea <br />of finding suitable areas for A-1 districts and that areas near the Base be <br />studied for quick development so they can be confined to that locality. <br />Parking - Clakre_ �St. <br />It was voted to mrite the Chamber of Commerce that the Board favors a <br />parking space in lots adjoining the Library. <br />Meeting adjourned at 9s4o p.m. <br />A.
