Hearin,7 on the Fetit!On of Davir7 a oa.. to amend the C-1 zone as advertised at 8 p.m. in the Selectmen's Room. Mr.Cromtirell opened the meeting by reading the petition. He then asked for comments. I:Ir.Robert L.Ryder then spoke in favor of the petition- er. He said that a canvass of the neighborhood had been made and that with few exceptions all were in favor. The commercial development of the neighborhood had destroyed the area's value as an R-1 area. Mr.Rix has no purchaser as yet for the property. A drainage easement has been given to the Torn. IIr.Custance spoke in favor of extending good potential business property and of deepening the C-1 area. He also Epoke in behalf of the Cham- ber of Commerce. Frederick 2arello, a nearby resident, is in favor of the amendment. U%Downey of Farmcrest avenue asked a question. *.Dorney of P'armcrest ave- nue spoke in favor and stated that I;ir.Rix had improved his property. JIr. ' Cogswell of 243 IIarrett road spoke in favor. I'Y.Couette asked if drainage had been definitely established and the answer was "no". 11 -.Ryder sub- mitted plan of a proposed layout which he thought would make the easement a fact. Mr.Couette asked if the locus mould be developed as one parcel and the answer was "yes". He also asked what are the back land plans - the answer etas possible land lotting development. 12r -Briscoe of Farmcrest avenue arose in objection. He stated that not everybody had been asked. I:r.Ilorse of Fhrmcrest avenue stated that he had not been as::ed. He complained of present traffic congestion. He asked if there were any plans of development and I.Y.Rix said there were no plans. If he sold the development it will be a benefit to the neighborhood. Lbr.Downey asked about I:?r.Rix's proposed gift of ground for play- ground at time of gasoline perriit. I.Ir.Ryder said backland for this purpose was still good. Is.Downey registered opposition. M—.Kraff said that he had offered to buy this land for housing purpose. He repeated a lot of hearsay evidence on misrepresentation. Ile feared competition. He was against the proposal. I:k'.Cox of Waltham street stated that although he signed the petition he is against the proposal. I.Ir.Ryder answered I:Ir.Kraff and so did I:Ir.I7orris asked if there were any actual abuttors present and was answered "Yes". The meeting adjourned at 8:55 P.M.
