MEETING OF PLANNING BOARD
I
July 16, 1946
Present: Messrs. Worthen, Richards, Houdlette, Cromwell
Voted To authorize the purchase of two reams of tissue paper to be
used by the Planning Board.
Cutler Farm
It was noted that Mr. Ferguson had attended the hearing, on the
Cutler Farm property, which was adjourned for two weeks.
Suns
The Board had been asked to express its thoughts on how to
clarify or change Article 19 of the building code in respect to
advertising signs on business properties.
After considerable discussion it was concluded that it would
be best to let the article stand as at present.
The Board believes that signs attached to buildings should lie
flat with the fact of the buildings and project not more than six
inches irrespective of whether the building is back from the street
' line.
The Board realizes that an even more serious problem exists
concerning advertising signs that are not attached to buildings but
for the present is undebided as to what attitude to take because of
the difficulty in differentiating between signs that are objection-
able, in this category, and others that are not.
It was decided to write to the Selectmen in the above vein.
Home Trailers
The Selectmen have asked the Planning Board to express an
opinion upon methods of regulating or controlling the use of trailers
for living quarters on land awned or leased by the occupants of the
trailers. (This is distinct from the problem of regulating so-called
trailer camps.)
The Planning Board after considerable discussion concluded
that there must be regulatory powers under the rules for health
and sanitation that would permit effective control. However, it
decided to investigate the matter further, by communicating with the
State Planning Board and otherwise before replying to the Selectmen.
Parking Lot Problem
' The Board considered the parking lot problem but arrived at
no conclusion.
Fe7
tfullysu
