PLANNING BOARD MEETING <br />March 19, 1946 <br />Present <br />Messrs. Nickerson, Ferguson, Houdlette, and Worthen. <br />Election of Officers <br />The present Chairman and Clerk were re-elected to serve for <br />the next year. <br />Robert C. Merriam <br />Land on Lincoln Street - Mr. Merriam showed a plan of proposed <br />"Five Forks Village", comprising some 25 acres on the northerly side <br />of Lincoln St., between Middleby Road and Five Forks, now owned by hiar� <br />A total of 19 proposed lots, with frontages on the curve of existing <br />Lincoln St., the lots running back to a maximum depth of about 800 feet. <br />No subdivision is involved, and the Board commented favorably on <br />the plotting of the land. <br />Lovell Bus Co. Garage <br />1 <br />Mr. Merriam reviewed the development leading up to the Lovell <br />search for a new location nearer than Maynard, and the site at <br />Five Forks, the petition for this location having recently been ' <br />denied by the Board of Appeals after some study. Mr. Merriam <br />presented a plan of land now under consideration by the bus <br />company, which contemplates building its bus garage off Bedford <br />Street on appxm1mate1y 1 acre of Phelps land, from the rear of <br />the Town's fire station property to the railroad tracks. The <br />buses would use Camellia Place, as access to Bedford St., which <br />right of way now exists. Mr. Merriam will consult with the <br />Selectmen and Fire Engineers on the matter, and requested a <br />recommendation by the Planning Board. <br />A majority of the Board members present were favorably <br />Inclined toward to use of this land for the garaging purposes, <br />contingent upon an improved Camellia Place, and that the buses do <br />not make use of Hancock Avenue or Hancock Street. <br />John Kellp <br />Mr. Kelly of East Street, appeared before the Board with plans <br />for lotting of three parcels of land owned by him on the corners of <br />Lowell and East Streets. The proposed widening of East Street was also <br />incorporated. A total of 24 lots, with acceptable frontages on . <br />existing streets and of generous size. Not a subdivision. The Board's <br />action not required, but commented favorably and reminded the owner <br />of the future Lowell Turnpike. <br />
